Friday night fell unexpected victim to the worst hailstorm I’ve ever seen.

Sadly, my 2015 was in the driveway and took 25 minutes of 40mph wind driven dime to quarter sized hail. Every body panel and every plastic trim piece, lights, side mirrors, roof rack, window tempering layer damaged. Hundreds of dents, many at character lines and edges and several cracked the paint .

Waiting for insurance to come take a look. Really well maintained and 85,000mi — KBB shows a private sale value of $48,500.00.

Anyone had similar situation and what was repair costs?

I’m thinking it’s totaled sadly and wouldn’t be surprised if repairs are over $30k.

that sucks. I’m sorry.

I think it’s going to be totaled. Something similar happened in Nashville around 20ish years ago. Massive hail storm that peppered all the new cars on lots outside. They ended up selling the hail damaged cars for a huge discount. You used to see them driving around from time to time. Not so much anymore.

As @Wildcat Walker said, that does open the possibilities to be a lead rig in trail exploration/clearing without worrying about minor body panel damage.

Keep us posted on how it goes.

Thanks.

Had considered the same thing but my delicate ego struggles driving a well dimpled golf ball even in the trails!

Sorry to hear, that sucks. We just went through this with my wife's car that got hit by a big hail storm a year and a half ago in Colorado. Hers got totaled and unfortunately this may as well.. Hopefully your dealings with insurance is much more streamlined than us. We had annoying amounts of back and forth with insurance and a shop and after four months finally learned they were totaling it out.

Thanks.

Sorry to hear about the damage. If you decide to keep it as a trail rig, PLEASE don't miss out on the excellent license plate opportunity. GOLFBLL

Yes, insurance will total that truck, IMO. Dents in the arch that follows the roof line from the a-pillar to the rear quarter are pretty much un-PDR-able, bondo is the only option. Good candidate for a buy-back though. Get a big "Titleist" decal for the side and re-name it the golf ball. :edit: @jlm43 beat me to it.

You're also going to need a new roof on your house :(

Take the 25-30K the insurance company gives you and keep the rig and run it....Then just build it out as a doomsday rig and no one will care about the dents.

Either that or there is a thread going right now where there are at least 1 or 2 guys looking for good cruiser motors.

Plus the gas milage will improve by 2 mpg!

The roof can be covered with a rack and you can probably just replace the hood? At that point there wouldn't be much visible damage.

That's a lot of hail!

If insurance can do you right and the salvage value isn't nuts, good candidate for a buy back and one of these tags...

I had some hail damage on my old 200. Not nearly as many strikes, but a few good dings, mostly on the hood but a few random on the side panels. Thankfully was able to get home and park it in the garage mid-storm. My shop had a PDR expert that was able to get them all out. I'd like to see more detailed photos, but I agree with another poster that replacing the hood and putting on a full roof rack would do a lot, and see about some PDR on any other glaring side dings. Live with the few digs in the pillar you can't fix. Glad I don't live in hail country anymore.
