Is a catalytic converter for a 62 the same as a 60? All the threads I read are regarding 60's, but nothing on 62's. Anyone found a good replacement? The OEM are PRICEY, like $7-800! Others said they went with JC Whitney for a 60 for around $120, would this also work on a 62?

You can almost use any Cat as long as it is rated flow for your size vehicle. BTW a 62 is on the low side of the flow chart so anything above the stock pipe size will work.

For my FJ62 I use one from Catco that I got from summit racing. Universal weld in type.

But I also only have one cat now after an exhaust redesign. If you want (or may need) to redesign, I think there is a 2 into 1 dodge truck cat that will work great. Two down pipes to the cat and single 2 1/2" out.

Do you have that part number?

Thanks for the tips. I'm looking for a direct bolt-in. I know a lot of the 60's guys were having trouble finding one with the proper bolt pattern, they were being mailed cats with two bolts instead of 3. Does a 62 have the same bolt pattern as the 60?

to answer your ?. no the 60 and 62 cats are different. the 60 uses one bigger one and the 62 uses 2 smaller ones. in stock form

So to pass emissions can I cut out the two and just put in one? Since each cat will have its own sensor, will this throw codes if the second sensor is not hooked up to a cat?

Mud Shark, what type of Magnaflows did you use? They don't have any listed for Toyotas for 1988. Thanks!

Update: I got the 2 summit racing cats, $55 each. Mechanic wanted to charge $300 each for aftermarket, no thank you. Replacing the cats did the trick and I passed emissions with flying colors, gracias Mud

Did the summit cats have flanges for bolting in, or was some welding necessary? What are the summit part numbers?

I have the MAF cat back exhaust and need some aftermarket bolt in catalytic converters.
