I'm a gear head to the bone, never really mattered to me what particular vehicle tripped your trigger. I have met my fair share of snooty owners that think that their vehicle is somehow better, and probably is in some ways. I was into "unofficial" rally racing at night when I was into Healy's. It was mostly British Leyland, some fiats, coolest was a little Honda, one of the first. This guy had basically built an entire suspension from scratch and was running 14" rims and fat tires. That thing scooted along. A bunch of the guys had an attitude about him and his car because it was not the "norm". That is part of what really made it cool!

Too far for me to trek though :( give em hell

Cool… Small world. I grew up with a Healey. This is my dad's 67' 3000 that he bought in 1970.

And… I have a 1979 Civic 1200 that I drug out of a field for $900 and restored a few years back!

The day it came home.

and now

That's the Honda!!! A little older, maybe mid 70s? His tires stuck out the sides of the wells a good bit, probably 70 series in the day. Beautiful job on yours.

The 3000 is beautiful, does your father still have it? Mine looked nothing like your fathers. Mine was rough around the edges and I was a poor 21 year old. Man that car was a woman magnet, which I needed all the help I could get. ;)

So I shoulda bought the two owner 3000 I saw in black Mtn this past weekend for 2500?

It was smoking deal but crap timing. Ain't that the norm

So how many vintage cars do you own there ??? :)

Do you have any further information on it Jason? Had to be pretty rough at that price

$2500 for a Healey 3000 is highway robbery, no matter the condition (almost). Where is this car? Got digits? I'll drag it to my house!

I have a big loathing for most hondas but that one is badass

But it wasn't :(.

I saw on side of 64 in lake lure almost turning to 9 north. Texted my pops who is a long time British sports car owner/admirer and he denied me opportunity to make an offer on his behalf.

Don't have a number but headed back that way soon as weather breaks.

I have no issues with Hondas but you are right, the blue one above is badass for sure. Great job on it, really looks great. This thread has become a trip down memory lane for me.

Jason, I'd like those numbers, less than an hour from me and close to our mountain property. Up 64 from Lake Lure in Edneyville. 12.6 miles from downtown Hendesonville.

My wife wants it. Dave, Stan and I will co-own it like a time share. Get the contact info.

Healeys fetch big bucks these days. A running 3000 would be worth $9-10k minimum. A properly restored one can bring >$50K. Go back with cash.

Since we're posting pics, here's a couple of my LBC's from a few years ago:

my dad should have kept all of his then...... He owned quite a few mg's, Austin's, jags, triumphs, etc.....

You are killing me Dave, that TR6 is nice, always liked the bigger tires.

I was in PA and the road salt in winter just ate them alive. I put a full race cage, 8 point mount in my 69 Sprite and it made it a new car, actually tightened it up. They were unibody and rust just ate them until they were toast. A pal of mine had her 59 bug eye break in half just behind the seats. What a pain in the ass that was. I was fortunate to hook up with a guy that raced Healys and bought used parts from him.

I imagine it would cost a good chunk of that $50K to restore it just in parts. Parts have to be near unobtanium.

Trying to talk me out of my 1/3 of the Healey, Stan ? I'd venture to say that a reeeal nice one would go high $60's. It is true that many parts are unobtainium. Moss and Victoria British still carry a fair amount of stuff for them but you're right, Healey stuff ain't cheap.

LOL your third. I'm still slowly collecting parts for the 80

I would not even consider buying a Healy like that unless I were looking for a quick flip. Either that or as a buy and park. Sell it in a few years or if the market seems to be peaking. Investing in metal is precarious at best

Ya know Dave I am sure I could slide down in a 3000. I am not so sure getting out would be as simple. Top up would be a killer. I do miss TDCW
Top Down Cruisin Weather. The Jersey Shore was 1.5 hours away at the closest. Wildwood Crest was about 4 hours. Lots of memories.

Yes, this turned into quite the British car thread. My dad still has the Healey. It is sitting at 66,000 miles.
You should have snatched up that deal. Everyone is correct, they are bringing big bucks these days. Dad paid $3000 for his in 1970. A sound investment I'd say.
Thanks for the Honda love!

A '73 TR6 used to fit me like a glove in high school, in '79-80. I got the urge to buy one about 11 years ago, my wife had never seen one. I still think it cuts the most beautiful lines and proportions of any car body shape, and the inline 6 purrs. Found one in Indian Trail, $6500, perfect shape. Wife loved the lines too, then I sat in it. That was the problem, these cars shrink with age!!

So let me get this straight, Dave & Dave, you are going to buy the 3000 and drop it off here. You'll buy all the parts and I'll work on it here and you guys can come help. When done it lives here and you can come and drive it any time you like. Works for me :)

Reality is, the last thing I personally need is another project. I have 3 as it is. And when the mountain property sells I will also have a barn to build. I have enough projects to last till death.

Hijack in full effect....In case y'all ever wanted to know how my screen name came to be roadstr6, I chose this tag for my little TR6 roadster about 15 years ago. Has been my screen name on multiple forums ever since.
