I'd like to share my negative Cars and Coffee Winston Salem experience this past Saturday. This was my first time attending the Winston event. It is sponsored by Flow BMW whom I will never do business with.
I chose to bring my Land Cruiser. I arrived to the event at 8:00 am. Not knowing it started at 9:00, I was one of the first to arrive. I was joined by a Healey, a Ferrari, a Corvette, and an Alpha. As well as the guy from Flow hosting the event. I backed in across from him. He asked me if I was a part of the show. (Obviously yes)
I asked if where I parked was ok.
"That will be fine" he replied. He then explained that he was going to try and group the European cars together.
Pretty soon after, everyone started rolling in. A good mix of cars from Ferraris to PT Cruisers and everything in between. By about 9:30 the parking lot was almost full with a steady stream still rolling in. No order had been established. Everything was mixed together.
It was at this point that the BMW rep came to me by my Cruiser and said "are you having a good time? Are you happy where you are parked?" To which I simply replied "yes". Then he says..."would you mind moving your vehicle over there and just becoming a spectator, that way you can enjoy the other cars. I am trying to keep this mostly a European classic event" as he points to a distant parking lot. I was floored. I replied by saying "I believe I will stay right where I am, thank you."
My wife replied with "this is not how it is at greensboro's cars & coffee". To which he says... "This is not Greensboro, if it ever gets like Greensboro, I'm shutting it down."
I cannot believe the way I was treated Saturday. Their facebook page says "free event to all". Sorry my Landcruiser is not a European classic, but I have worked hard on it and am proud of my work. I love Greensboro's Cars & Coffee and its friendly diverse environment. Winston Salem cars and coffee really let me down.
I am curious if any of you want to join me with your Cruisers next month?
