How are you charging the Garmin? Do you find those arms to be intrusive for a passenger?
You can see the angled usb in the factory port. That is going to the Garmin. The only time they are intrusive is when the wife get in with her purse (which is way to big, but that is another conversation) in her left hand and hits the Garmin and Ham head unit. Once she is in and has put her purse on the floor they are not in the way.

Now that I have Carplay (Waze and Gaia), I am thinking about taking out the Garmin and putting in am iPad mini for a OBD display and maybe OnX.

@RobW0 I was viewing the photos on my phone and missed the power for the Garmin. Thanks for that info! I've seen a member here post a picture of a RAM mount he has on his driver's grab bar. He was using the factory 10mm nut with spacers and a longer bolt to connect the RAM mount. That might be a good place to keep the Garmin while still putting in the iPad.

That spot is already taken by the LINX controller.

I just ordered the NP unit. Who did your install? I'm in Denver too. Thanks.

I am the one who did my install  . It's not difficult. The hardest part is not scratching the headunit or the super delicate painted plastic. I had towels around the video headunit and painters tape around every plastic edge that I pried off. I used plastic/nylon panel tools from Harbor Freight and a 10mm socket with extension. I also purchased some high stick velcro (which I didn't use) and some 3M VHB tape (which I did use). That VHB tape is so unbelievably tough. I stuck the NP and the NetPlay unit together then stuck them both to the back of the video screen as there's tons of room there. I chose to stick them there because the plastic on the vents (at the back of the cavity) is very soft and looked flimsy. I didn't want to break that plastic if I had to remove the NP unit in the future.

I ran my microphone cable under the driver's dash and up the A-pillar. The A-Pillar on the MY 18 is the same A-Pillar as the rest of the world's non-"Sahara" version, but with cushy fabric glued to it. And for some reason, my A-Pillar fabric is glued to the windshield glue. I can't take the dang thing off to save my life. This made routing the NP mic up the pillar very difficult because I wanted to get the mic cable behind the side airbag and in the same clips as other wiring. I wanted to mount the mic to just above the rear view mirror as I've seen in other vehicles. To do that, you'll also need to take out a few screws for the headliner. It's really not that hard. You don't take out the headliner, just the clip that holds in the main visor (turn that 45 degrees), then there's a plastic shroud over the main visor's mount to the head liner. You unscrew that. Then the sub-visor also has a couple clips that come out. Once those are out, you can pull down the headliner just enough (DON'T PULL HARD ENOUGH TO BEND IT!!!) that you can tuck cables up there.

With all that being said, if you're not comfortable doing that, I would take it to PDA Road Gear in Littleton.

Wowww, thank you for the in-depth explanation. Now I know I definitely don't want to do this myself.

I installed it myself. It can be intimidating pulling the trim off the dash but just get a set of plastic pry tools. There are some good threads here on Mud that show a lot of pictures of how the dash comes apart.

There are also some videos that show how to take the center stack apart. That part really isn't too bad as long as you're careful so you don't scratch or otherwise damage any of the trim pieces. Once you have the center stack open, wiring up something like the NP is pretty simple as the plugs all pretty much only go one way. Stuff like routing cables to the A pillar is, at least IMHO, the hard part.

@Fisher23 , here is a shot from the back. You can see the different ball adapters and such that I used.

Does anyone know if the SWC works with Siri or is the only way to activate Siri on the screen?
