That’s up to you to decide. After checking out the video posted by @Somebodyelse5, you gotta wonder if any of this stuff is even worth the time, let alone the cost. He's got at BEST a 4-5db improvement after a combined half-inch of butyl, foam, mass-loaded vinyl under the stock interior pretty much everywhere including the ceiling. He didn't check insulating effect, but still....
Or is there an improvement you can hear that the sound meter isn't picking up?
Don't go any deeper. You will notice a difference. Leave it at that. Go order whatever mat and insulation you want and install it, enjoy it, and be happy. drink a beer. think about something else. I'm not going to explain logarithmic scales and Fast Fourier Transforms for you.Mmmkay sent me down the rabbit-hole on this one, found this...
"To illustrate, a 20 dB sound is 10 times more intense than a 10 dB sound, and a 30 dB sound is 100 times more intense than a 10 dB sound.
"Furthermore, an increase of about 3 dB is typically perceived by the human ear as a doubling of the sound intensity, while a 10 dB increase is perceived as a doubling of the loudness."
Now we're talkin', though I don't yet know the diff between 'loudness' and 'intensity...'
What's that you say--Fast & Furious Transformers? Can't wait!Don't go any deeper. You will notice a difference. Leave it at that. Go order whatever mat and insulation you want and install it, enjoy it, and be happy. drink a beer. think about something else.
Don't go expecting any explanations of logarithmic scales and Fast Fourier Transforms on here.
if only they were that fun! What's that you say--Fast & Furious Transformers? Can't wait!
