no, that is like a gas piston for an M14. clean it up and polish the brass, then use a brass brush down into the hole for a couple pulls and the polish inside the hole with 3500 grit, just a few runs. should be nice and smooth in and out. You should have a long spring that goes down in there before the piston.

have you ordered the rebuild kit yet?

is that keeper screw still stuck? looks like it is, but should be easy to extract with an ez-out or screw extractor.

Get a good set of JIS screw drivers, they will keep you from stripping all those phillips heads with ass american screw drivers. Vessel is the best company IMHO, and they are pretty inexpensive. They sell direct and they sell on Amazon.
 
It is still stuck, that’s next. I just got an easy out that should work. I’ve been soaking it in pb blaster for almost 2 weeks! Lol I’ll look into those screwdrivers. Thank you.
 
By the gods! Success!!!! I get the screw out and May have a replacement!!!!!! It looks like the tread is M4x0.8. I’m hoping I can get it taped and replaced!things are looking up.

it took a week or more of PB blaster, drilling, an easy out, drilling, a punch, a center drill bit with a left handed bit, and using a scone as a chisel, but it’s out!!! And actually not that bad looking!

Also got the fuel return torn apart, cleaned and reassembled with new brass gaskets! now to get or make a screwdriver to take out the jets!

I took a general purpose flat blade screwdriver and ground/filed it until it became a jet-dedicated screwdriver. That was over 30 years ago. I still use that same screwdriver today.

Marv Specter gave me an SST set for my 50th birthday. I just kind of grinned sheepishly: all the SSTs I made for myself over the years work better than Toyota’s. Why? Because they are not compromised by the size restrictions of having to fit into a handy carrying pouch.

All of which is to say…go ahead and make one.😉
 
This could be the right size, check your length, of course.

Ok! The first 2 sections are done!!!! Holy cow! Thanks to @pjohnson recomending a M4x0.7 was perfect. Found some long screws at at Lowe’s, cut them down and made my plunger hold down screw and the screw for my throttle cable. I didn’t have to tap it too much. Just to clean it out.

then I cut down the sides of a thick flat head with my dremmel and presto! Carb jet tool. Cleaned everything, used the manual and pinheads tutorials. Not to find a replacement bottom, the secondary is far to rusted. I can’t get it cleaned no mater how much evapo-rust I use!!!

The carb is done!! Proof you shouldn’t give up on a crusty carb! Thanks to @ToyotaMatt and @SlapSmak for all their help looking in looking for, acquiring, and fixing parts! Now to try this out on the cruiser!!
