Also, double check your plug wires and make sure they are routed properly. If they are just turn the distributor about 20 degrees at a time and try to crank. Once you find a spot that it fires up, slowly turn the dist. until it runs smooth. Then you can ground t1 and e1 in the diagnostic connector and shoot/set for the timing spec and tighten her up.

Jumped the wires to set timing and all was good in the world. I'd double-check using the FSM procedures posted above. It's easy to get the distributor off and swear you're right.
