Can you really rock crawl with an FZJ?

Welcome to Mud! I just picked up an LX450 with elockers and it cruises great and even playing the snow this weekend 100% stock it did fine. Like any SUV these are thirsty beasts. 14-16mpg highway is the norm unless you are on something bigger than 33's.

Yes, there are couple of LR converts on this board, including myself. Believe me, from what you're used to with the RRC, a 112" wheelbase won't be an issue. Oh yeah, the only thing you have to *worry* about is on long trips is fuel! You won't be popping the hood open on every fuel stop with a Toyota :D If you need to discuss further, PM me.

In the meantime, chew on this picture for a while. Guess which one is the LR diff?

At least the mall cruiser showed up with good tires (looks like). We once had a LR Discovery show up with street tires. That was a drag.

Actually, that newb is our benevolent dictator and supreme ruler, Woody. The guy that runs this asylum. He's been know to rock crawl before, just not with a wagon. :D

This might be the first wheeling trip he didn't end up on his lid. :flipoff2:

I was totally thinking the same thing. If a newbie (male) would have posted up that question, he would have been flamed, try search, are you a fawking idiot, of course the 80 is the only truck to buy ect......

We take exceptiions to females in this addiction.

Every time I see a picture posted in this thread, I imagine another male gorilla beating his chest infront of a female trying to show off. But, yea...these rigs are awesome and I am definatly glad I started out with the best.

Just for the record, I don't fit in that catagory in every possible way you can think of. I've got 3 future cruiser heads and a wife (also a toyota head). My beating chest days have been LONG over:D . I simply felt obligated to speak up :D.

Ok, if you say so....

Sure, an 80 is more capable than a 40...
But more capable than a 55? NO.

I have been wheeling for over 30 years now. I have seen many changes in the sport over the years. While there is still the strong male testasterone driven element it is not as prevalent as it once was. In my early 4 wheeling days it was so rare to find a female driver. We actually used to have "Powderpuff" events where the guys spotted the SO's over mostly mild terrain. These days there are many female drivers and many of them can out wheel most anyone I know! The equipment is largely responsible for that part of the equation as what used to take a lot of stupid peddle and a lot of luck now takes patience and finesse. Most women excel in this department for the most part so give 'em something like an 80 and get outta the way because the ladies can DRIVE! Flame on if ya want I really don't care. My sig line says it all....Shut The Frog Up And Wheel! :grinpimp:

As the numbers increase so does the capability of the truck as long as it's two digits. Once they get to three digits they are only superior in the hands of Shotts! :shotts: :flipoff2: :D

What years are 3rd generation for a 4Runner?

I hate to sound shallow, but the LC is just more aesthetically pleasing to me than a 4Runner; it looks tough. I look like Tinkerbell, so I'm probably overcompensating for my diminuitive size with my choice of vehicles. ;)

3rd gen is '97 to I believe '04.

And I agree, the 80 is the best looking large 4x4 out there. Every rig has its pros and cons, and the only con to the 80 is size...unless of course you have 4 kids in which case there are no cons :grinpimp:

Nay

3rd gen is '96-'02, 4th gen started in '03.
