A big thanks to JT for the rear springs and to Fergie for dropping them off at 901-Hybrids Monday...

And then today, Brown Santa dropped a package down the chimney ...

I'm going to try OME 850J's up front and 863's in the back for the initial testing.

Cameron: Let me know if you want the bigger disc brake backing plates. Got a nice set ready to go for your fronts.

Yes, awesome!

Measure front rotor thickness on the donor. The later ones are over an inch, 1.26" x 12.26" dia, and the early model rotors are 1" x 11.25"

If they are early model then the upgrade to later stuff is worth doing while your in there, but you will need calipers to go along with the rotors and pads.

According to @jynx 's rotor specs, I've already got the later brakes.

This one is 1-1/4" thick. I'll compare with Mark's truck to confirm that they are the same.

If your over an inch you got the later model ones. I wish I could find my pics of the difference. It really is quite impressive to see the difference between the two. Later model is definitely more beef.

When I did the manual swap on my old truck(now bossman's truck - 60 case into an 80) I just combined the 60 shaft and the 80 shaft to make it work. You may have all the pieces you need already, the slip joints should be the same.

I was out doing some measuring tonight, and the fat end of my cut-down FJ62 front DS is the exact same length as the stock 80. So, the quickest and easiest solution is to use the combo shaft method. I don't want to disturb the pinion just to see if they are interchangeable.

Also the 80 front is too small to drill the bigger pattern.

Measuring from the axle centerline to the pinion flange, the two fronts are very close in depth, so this one might just bolt back in.

While I was measuring, I looked at the diff offset. It looks like they made the extra width up on the long side. Which works out great for me.

This moves my driveshaft ever so slightly away from my transmission pan, which is scary close (but normal, and seems to work fine).

It also moves the diff further from my oil pan, which already has battle scars from diff contact despite switching to the super heavy springs. Plus, the 8" housing is smaller, which moves it even further away.

this gave me a headache

It's gonna be a plush ride for us in May - where will the expresso machine go? :worms:
...This should be broadcasted live on a Youtube channel

(It could inspire me to build something) :flipoff2:

 Maybe @TrickyT could fab up a heat exchanger for the Vortec and then we could use a hi-lift for the pressure... I think you're on to something!

I keep finding more stuff that we're going to have to move or cut, so I've invited Hedo Rick to come over with his Sawzall...

gonna be fun ...configuring for coil springs..

It's starting to look like this should be mandatory for any 60 getting an engine swap, while the motor and everything is out of the way.

Don't want to get ahead of myself just yet though.

It's gonna be cold (lows around 29), which has proven to be prime Three-6 Hybrids fabbing weather, so we're gonna have the Grizz Girls passing out hot chocolate...
