I think the next time I have the front of my truck tore down Im going to change that A/C hard line that runs across the front of the condensor to a flexible line to help with cooler mounts etc (get the hard line out of the way.

Looking good

Beautiful work man!

Can't wait to see the video....tomorrow

I hope! This thing is kicking my ass. It's not as easy as the pit crew makes it look on the internet.

I got the shifters done. That Lokar is not fun to set up. You have to really fool with it to get it to go into every gear.

I also got the transfer case shifter back in the factory hole. The t-case moved back about 4-1/2 inches, so I had to cut and extend the shifter with a piece of bar stock.

I decided against the twin sticks because it was going to be more work and the boot wasn't going to match the existing opening.

Once it's all back together it will almost look factory on the inside.

I believe this only applies to the Gen IV motors, but the Monte Carlo pedal mentioned several pages back is perfect. No modifications needed.

I bolted it in to the existing pedal bracket. Two new holes, done. I looked at the other two vehicles in the driveway, and it seems to sit perfect in relation to the brake pedal.

I swapped the two wires (also mentioned a few pages back), since the car & truck pedals are wired differently. The ones to switch are the white & brown wires.

By gently bending the (not very) hard line, I was able to fit the slim PS cooler behind it, and snake it behind the thicker tranny cooler. I put a sticky foam pad anywhere it could touch, but it would take a lot to touch.

I used some brackets already on the condenser to attach an aluminum strip to which the coolers are bolted. They're solid.

The grill just barely touches the transmission cooler.

your mounts look clean...I'm going to re-do mine at some point in the future (cooler mounts p/s % trans)

Progress has slowed to all but a halt from dealing with the little details.

Like this brake line. It is right in the path of the exhaust manifold.

The 90 is pointed the wrong way...

So, a cut 'n turn later...

Plus a 12" stick of metric line from Autozone...

I wrapped it with transmission hose in case it rubs on anything. I think there's enough slack that the soft line won't rip it out with its new routing.

NOW we can put the manifold and dipstick on...

Fuel lines done. I used push lock AN fittings from the pressure side of the pump to the fuel rail. Barbed fittings (for ease of installation) on the return and suction side.

I mounted the pump and filter/regulator using the threaded holes for the old fuel line mounts.

Those fittings are just about impossible to push on unless you heat the hose and push it on to the fitting clamped in a vise. Then it's cake.

Using my trusty teq stove for hot water duty...

I ran out of day. No straight header fire up video just yet :(

The only things left to fire it is to fill it with fluids and run a few wires.

one trick my friend did to allow some additional left and right movement on the motor mounts was that he welded up one of the holes and we ended up drilling another hole to get that extra 1/2 inch or so on the left and right movement on the engine mounts. We fought fought a while and then just said to hell with it and he welded up the mount which allowed us to gain that magic last 1/2 inch or so in getting the engine partially square with the radiator and clearing the drivers side frame rail area. FYI

Looks great moving forward....what are your plans to show what gear you are in (on the auto transmission)?

We had to cut a slot between two holes on both mounts to get it where we thought it was happiest. I tacked the washer to the mount to lock it in after everything was tightened down. Hopefully that will hold.

No plans for a gear indicator right now. I'm hoping I don't need one.

Still a top notch job, gotta be close to firing it up!!!

Thanks!

It is very close. I have 15-20 wire connections to run/extend/shorten and make pretty, then top off the fluids. About half of the wiring is just to make the stock FJ60 harness disappear and to clean up some sloppy wires from previous stereo/lockers/etc. installs.

Then to drive it, it just needs the exhaust & driveshafts.

Went to the hose shop and got my PS hose made. 5 minutes, $35. He liked my DIY job and tried to talk me out of a new one, but I held firm.

Looking good Cam. Lots of so called, "professional shops" work would not be as good.
