plenty of places near pisgah.
If you take 178 up toward BRP you will eventuall hit i think 64 to continue to stay on 178.
When you hit 64 you will be taking a right hand turn back on 178 right at a canoe/kayak rental/outdoors store.
When you take that turn take your first left. It's called Chads road or bobs road or something like that.
It's a first name followed by the road IIRC.
Either way, the road is covered with X-mas tree farms on each side of the road.
Once you hit that road you will hit 2 small bridges that are in the middle of very tight turns.
After the 2nd tight turn there is a FS road on the right.
There are several good drive up off road camping spots there and a few fun hills to climb. Also a nice tight trail to put on some trail pin stripes.
Not a whole heck of a lot of off roading but if your looking for a quiet place to camp with probably no one else around this is a good spot.
Plenty of distance from city light pollution as well.
the FS road is not clearly marked. It's just a gravel road. You have to turn in before you can even see the gate.
It was last year when i went up there....and i have not had more than 4 hours of sleep since thrus night...so if the rest of you who might have a bettery memory than i...and are thinking more clearly....please verify the directions!!!
I know bill and david know of this spot.
