Amen on the water! It's a critical ingredient often overlooked. Love Chicago but the water tastes and smells like a chlorine pool.
When living there I always used a reverse osmosis system to purify my water and then pour over using a ceramic cone and Mellitta filter.

I do need to graduate to espresso, life's too short not to start the day with great coffee.
 
Kinda like my grinder-quite old, but still works just fine. Fresh beans are a must.-Melitta pour-over

I don't leave home without my pour over gear:

1. Home roasted beans (This weekend: Ethiopia Yirga Cheffe Dumerso)
2. Porlex hand grinder (not pictured)
3. Snow Peak Gigapower single burner stove on top of whatever fuel canister
4. Snow Peak pour over dripper (folds flat, uses standard filters, and makes 2 cups if you're creative)

I use the REI DoubleShot French Press Mug. It makes a large cup of coffee, can be carabiner'd to the backpack, and stores enough grounds in the base for an extra one or two emergency cups.

After trying dozens of options I go with a French Press. Coffee tastes great but just as important: quick, simple to use and clean up is simple.

Cheap Vietnamese coffee maker. My parents use it at home for 20 years before we picked up a modern coffee maker.

I used to keep it in my camping box till my GF and I switched to Vietnamese or American instant coffee packs. We have sugar and powdered creamer in the rig. We are not picky when it comes to camp coffee so it works out.

A number of years ago a buddy had one of these on a trip. It's now what I use camping as well.

Have tried drip, REI French press, but always come back to my old-reliable, the MOKA Express. Typically need the jolt of a good espresso when camping, and I never worry about it getting broken bouncing around the camp kitchen box. Mine will pass down to at least one more generation with little more than a gasket replacement once every 10 years.

Looks like it might be the Snow Peak

Titanium French Press
sure does...I think I'll stick to the mochapot for that kinda fetti...
