So- I'm building the roll-cage for the 45. I like the design of the MetalTech profile cage where it stays really close to the dash to keep from knocking your knees on it. If the A-pillar of the cage comes down just behind the dash pillar [I don't know if these are proper terms] under the floorboard, it gets really close to the body mount.

I've always thought the front body mount was too low and was a real rock catcher. It seems like everyone I see is beat to hell from getting hung up on rocks.

What I'm thinking of doing is removing the stock front body mount from the frame, and building a body mount/cage to frame tie-in thing that also has an outrigger looking thing for a slider.

I wish I was better with SolidWorks so you guys could see what is rattling around in my brain.

Surely someone has done this before. Can someone post pictures of what their cage to frame tie in looks like near the front body mount? Maybe I'm trying to re-invent the wheel.

i can take some photos of mine, but let me try and describe it.. Basically, i just got rid of the big ugly body mount, and ran a .18 Tube out from the Frame and welded it to my Slider (2x2" Square Tube welded to the body), then the cage comes down and ties directly into that tube.. I put a plate on the frame side with some Health Gussets.

My stock body mounts where Beat from the rocks.. these new tubes sit much higher!

i found this photo in the Files.. Excuse my Poor Welding Skills.. (i plan on adding some gussets front and rear)

Just a Side note, Make sure your body is Sitting properly before welding everything.. I welded it all up, then noticed that the body settled down about 1/4" and now my aprons and Bib don't line up quite as nice as they used to!

and Please make your A Pillars as Straight as Possible. Straight tubes make strong cages! mine run straight up then slightly bend in to match the Windshield and i have NEVER hit my 6'2" tall knee on that bar.. While im strapped into my seat i could not even touch that bar with my knee if i tried!

Nice- that's what I was trying to picture in my mind. Except your idea is cleaner that what I was planning. Thanks.
