I like the fact that you bought it and someone else is taking it and having you build it to there spec’s. And it is going to be used for its intended use. If that was found here in CA the first thing what would of happened was it would of been flipped.
Following as I usually do on your builds.

Yessir. That’s the reason I took this one when I did. I told him if he did not like it HE could flip it. No worries on my end.

Got all new brake lines installed and then buttoned up the drivers side.

Once that was done I transported the 4 speed away with the Kubota then placed the new jewelry on the tranny jack. Tomorrow I stab.

It’s tight but you can remove and reinstall the H55 into a 60 with the center hump in place.

Using the Trail Tailor/Valley hybrids shifter. Perfect fit.

Without starting the great grease debate of ‘22, lol…..what’s your go to grease in the axle pics above? Just curious.
Just red axle grease.

Keep in mind, unless you have a full time 4x4 like an 80, none of that moves if the hubs are unlocked. If it’s not moving. It’s not wearing.

Wheel bearings. Pack them properly.

If you properly seal the knuckle and pack it full of grease there is no way for water or 90wt to get in there.

I just don’t see the big deal on grease. I certainly don’t use two types as I go.

Roger that. I use one type also, as long as it’s good for wheel bearing application I’m happy. Whole truck basically gets the same stuff.

Damn you for inspiring me to rebuild my knuckles.

Back on it.

Prepping the fuel system and desmog happening now.

I learned my lessons before on fuel. Start with a clean slate. Make sure your lines are clear. Don’t trust old gas.

It’s amazing how much crap comes off the drivers fender with a desmog

Crap like this is why you don’t take your Land Cruiser to a jack leg mechanic

When you redid the knuckles, did you use a centering gauge for the bearings? And for the tension, a fish scale with the old shims in same pattern as you found them? (Just about to tackle this so want to know how the veterans do it.)

I used one of those dopey knuckle center tools one time for one truck.

Reuse your old shims. Torque to 75# use your fish scale. 6-13# you good.

As I said a few posts earlier. The main reason you want that axle centered is if it’s spinning on that inner axle seal for thousands of miles (like an 80 that always rotates) you don’t want to wear your seal down.

Your knuckles will tell you if your shim setup is off by being too loose or too tight when you torque all the knuckle bolts
