Well, you gotta like what you buy. But if your only two choices were to buy the bling LX locally or the LC100 at a 20% premium, I would say buy the LX. That $5-6k dollars can unbling that LX fast. Take a look at Sonk's LX before and after. A little plastic-dip on the front grill and you are set.

If you placed a factory order through the dealer?

The only items not standard on every vehicle from the factory I believe are...

Factory Navigation
Rear DVD entertainment
Roof Rack
Rear Spoiler
AHC

Now, keep in mind almost, if not, ever single dealer ordered LC from 2005 onward came fully loaded with all these options. You would have to find someone that special ordered from the factory minus one of the options above (i.e. extremely rare).

2004+ 18" wheels were standard, but I want to say maybe there was a larger/premium wheel option too...

what about the LX470? what were the options for 2005-2007?
-night vision
-hands-free phone
-mark levinson sound
-others?

You're right. My budget would be $30k all-in so if I were to go for that LX I would not have much cash to unbling it. That said, a can of Plasti-dip doesn't cost a fortune (if it's available in Canada). I'm going to take a look at the LX probably next week and see what they have to say. Wish me luck.
The Sonk rig looks amazing, thanks for the link. I bet he spent some serious money on the lift, tires and armour. The pictures are sure pushing me towards a Lexus.

After much debate and trouble finding a decent 80 series, I'm back to my search for a 100 series. Any thoughts here? I figured for an extra $3k-$4k I'm saving myself a lot of headaches over a 1997 80 series.

2000 TLC. "Clean Carfax, Gorgeous charcoal gray interior and exterior. Has 152K miles and still rides like new" per owner (3rd owner / female) Timing belt was done about a year ago. I don't know at what mileage. Going to look at it tomorrow. Tips?

Price seems okay, but I've seen 2000's go for about $10.5-$11k. How does that sound?

small world :). i was also looking into this same truck, i offered upto $9500 my max for the year and mileage from nada.com, but she said its worth way more than 12000 so i keep on finding reasonable deal and she keeps finding buyer. lemme know if you close the deal and the price you pay for it just curious.

So I've only had my Land Cruiser for a few months I'm looking to do something different. I'm having a hard time finding anything close to it within 500 miles of Kansas City to even compare it to. Below is what I was able to pull from KBB and NADA and the figures are all over the place.

It was a 1 owner purchased from an Infiniti dealership about 5 months ago with just over 103k miles on it, white, DVD, and remote start. Overall it is in great condition with a clean carfax and a few maintenance items recently taken care of including new serpentine belt, sway bar bushings, and front wheel bearings repacked. Timing belt was replaced by the previous owner at around 60k miles. Interior is in really good shape with minimal staining and no tears in any of the leather and in fact shows very little sign of wear.

KBB Private party- $16.2 in Excellent to $14.1 in fair
KBB Trade is $13.6 in very good and $13.1 in good

NADA – Clean trade in of $12,625 and $15,675 retail

Any suggestions in regards to what I should expect to get out of it would be greatly appreciated. A to some pictures included below.

I am going to see the LC tomorrow evening. Honestly I think $10.5 would be good but it sounds like she may not me negotiable at all? Since I'm local, I don't have to pay $800 to get the vehicle to me like I did for my last two, and sight unseen also. Was hoping for a white or silver, but those seem difficult to come by. Ideally I am looking for an early model 100 series with some proven mileage, like a '98 with rear locker (I gave up on 80's mentioned in my original post, but need to keep cost low, hence the '98 or '99 is ideal) However, this popped up so I figured why not take a look and test drive.

Did you get any info on the service history other than what I mentioned?

well i was only concerned about timing belt and she claims it was changed in april at about 152k miles, i would definitely check paperwork for that since it was just in april not long ago. I was initially looking for 80s too but i changed my mind and want to go with 100`s, but im trying to stay close to 120k mileage. well good luck and i think 10.5k wud be very good price she is getting if she decides to sell it.

All standard on the LX. Hands-free phone was also standard on the 2003+ LC with factory Navigation.

I think night vision was a somewhat rare option.

Buying a 05 LC, what does service records mean?

Looking at 05 LC with 42k miles, checked the owners group service records. Records show normal maint at every 5k miles but show 4 wheel alignment at 18k, 30k and 41k. Also shows wheel and tire diagnostic at 16k and 41k. Car is now being transferred to my local carmax for inspection. Looks clean and well kept. I'll call the dealer that did the work to find out more. Suspicious about the alignment and wheel and tire thing. Looks like it has new tires. Any thoughts/help appreciated about what this means. Thanks.

Any thoughts on this?

Comments appreciated.
So i might have found a good deal.
the good: 2003 LC w/ 190k miles for $12k.
the bad: missing key, blown front speakers, torn passenger leather seat, and rust under rear windshiel by lift release.

I feel like the issues are relatively minor and given the price, I might be able to work it down a bit or have the seller fix a few things. If nothing else, I should be able to fix a few things with the money saved. The truck drives nice and strong and everything seems to work fine.

Anyone have any suggestions on whether this is truly a good deal?

I wouldn't be too worried, more than likely just someone that was too picky about vibrations or the tires pulled on the freeway. Either way, a quick test drive will let you know if anything is wrong.

Missing key is around $250-275, so keep that in mind. The 2003 doesn't have the issue where you have to replace the ECU if you loose the remaining master. However you still want to have two master keys on hand at all times.

The miles are high, but the price is really low, and she has lots of life left in her. Rust under rear windshield is a common leak area and long as the damage isn't too bad it can be repaired now and avoided in the future.

I would get all new front leather from Metric TLC here on MUD. I think they run somewhere around a grand.

Thanks. Coincidentally I was just notified that someone else bought it as is.

So I will continue my search but at least I have a better understanding of how condition might play into my decision. I have also been considering a 2004 with 80k on the clock for $24k, which is also a good deal. Just a little more than I was hoping to pay for a third car.

Just talked to the service dept. about the LC. Seems the p.o. had purchased "tires for life" through the dealer which required frequent alignment and tire check per dealer requirements. Dealer no longer offers this option. Everything checks out and serviced by the book. Carmax is asking $30,900. Which I will pay if it checks out otherwise. Thanks for the help.

Thinking about selling my LC

Thinking about selling it and getting a truck for towing. I don't want to trade it in. ITs a 2000 with 102k on it. Sweet LC but I cant do all the things I want to with it. Put new tires on and took the running boards off. Thats bout it.

What do you think I can get for her? Im not gready just a fair price.

No issues with it at all just a scratch on the front bumper.

Has the 90k service been done?
Kbb says between 14-15k
Depending on where you are if its clean and has the 90k service I think you could luck out and get 15-16k for it.
It would take some time though and you would have to deal with alot of "tire kickers".

I bet it would move in a week at 12 or 13.

i doubt you're going to get tire kickers on a Cruiser with so little miles on it.

I bet it would move in a week at 12 or 13.
or less!

when i bought my hundy a couple years ago it had shy of 120k and i was lucky to sneak in there and get it before anyone else for $14k. it was only advertised for 2 days.

really depends on how soon you need it moved. if not, start high and then drop. perhaps start around $16k if it were me.
