Great forum, this is my first post. I've been stalking 100's for a few months and finally found a 2005 with only 57k miles. It's in near-perfect shape, the only downside is nav. Held it at the CarMax in Reno as soon as it popped up and had it shipped to my local store. Price is a little high for a 2005 at $27k, but I haven't seen anything out there with mileage that low. Did I find a unicorn, or am I over-paying? Either way, I'm probably going to buy it. Just curious if my conclusion that this is a rarity matches everyone's combined search/purchase experiences. Thanks!

@hmf I bought a 98 with 69k for $14k.
Depends how much yo uwant to spend., for 27k you could fully build a 100. I would but one around 15-20k with mileage 80-130 for cheaper and have more fun money. but that's just me! depends on budget also

BUT Great Find! I believe 05 is the sweet spot VVTI but no AHC

Great find enjoy I think you found a semi unicorn. you definitely didn't overpay

I have been shopping for the last few weeks and prices are all over the place. Did not think it would be this difficult. It seems that everything in good to great condition for the years through 2003/2009 are in the $19k-25k range. Everything below $16k needs work. The problem is you save 4 to 9 thousand dollars and end up putting most of that back your vehicle plus labor.

Yep but you end up learning so much more about your vehicle (if you like turning a wrench) and end up bonding with it. ;)

I just got done buying and doing my research I thought the VVTI didn't come in till 2006.

I found at car max, no matter what vehicle you are probably overpaying a bit. Sounds like you are aware this is on the high side, especially if TB etc haven't been done. But long term view low miles and will last you a lifetime. I'd agree very rare and odd that the last low mileage I saw was also in Reno....For comparison, I saw a 50k mile 04 go for 22k in Reno...craigslist private party. The buyers on here I missed out on that one. Then was going to look at a 05 with 95k in Tahoe for 25k and someone from out of state bought it without even looking at it. I looked for almost a year and a half before I found one (I wanted and didn't miss out on) and ended up with a 2003 with 90k and i think I overpaid and couldn't be happier. I found the 100's that show up on car max are generally selling or transferred to another location before they have pictures up so the demand is driving up the prices ,If you don't buy it, they have a line forming behind you.

On a side note, it's interesting you are from Texas cause during my search it seemed like the greatest inventory and the best deals ( at least from the pictures and descriptions) were always in Texas.

Thanks for your replies, I'm reassured on my decision to buy. I did hold it at midnight when it popped up, sight unseen with no pictures. I found that these don't last long, even at CarMax prices. I suppose the ability to do that was worth paying a premium, in this case.

FJC, you're right - it's not a VVTI, which started in '06. Does have all service records at proper intervals from dealerships and 4 brand-new Yokohama Geolandar ATS tires. I'm picking her up tonight, pretty excited to join your ownership ranks! I need to find some tapes for my new cassette player...

Congrats. I to listened to my first cassette in I don't know how many years last week and pulled all my CD's out of closets until I figure out which Bluetooth option I'm going with. I should have taken better care of them.....alot of skipping.....Enjoy the ride.

You made the right decision!!
Enjoy!!

Would love an opinion on something I'm looking at. 2002 LC, 212K miles. TB and WP done in last 10K miles. Minor door ding, some paint chips and really light scraping above wheel well. Overall all, condition on outside looks pretty good. Inside, leather has age, but no tears, probably can be revived with some work. Front bumper has some damage, the teenage daughter lightly hit something. I can probably deal with that and just leave as is, or replace it bumper. Sounds like maintenance records will probably be available, owner mentioned CV work also done at time TB/WP was done. Sounds like they were doing a lot of maintenance when daughter started driving it last year. CA vehicle, no rust, no accidents, but I do need to run VIN. What would a fair price be? Appreciate any advice.

Anyone in the Phoenix area interested in scoping out a LC? o_Oo_O 1 owner, 234k miles, Carfax shows no service records until 04/2010 when miles were first reported at 110,000 then decent 10-15k intervals all the way up to 227k. Interior in the pictures looks really good, not a lot of carpet shots but leather looks great. Dealer has already indicated he is willing to work on price.

Here seems to be the catch!! Carfax shows it lived most if not all of its life in Minnesota but the Carfax shows numerous service visits in Arizona. Dealer says there is no rust and is supposed to be sending undercarriage pictures tomorrow.

2003 Toyota Land Cruiser 4wd Sport Utility/1 Owner/Clean Car Fax

This would be a pure trail/expo build, camping 4-6 times/year, towing a popup 2-3 times/year, some wheeling once armored and built up a bit. Maybe 4-5k miles yearly max.

Comments? Suggestions?

Coming up on 3 months now and can not believe it is this hard to find what I want. Might be giving up on this hunt for a while, stockpile some cash and buy something newer.

Thank you,
Randy Jones

You just miss out on the 5-speed, if that's important to you, also lots of other things refreshed/updated in '03 per that Slee newbie buyers guide. There is a 2000 in San Jose (I see you are from Lincoln) that sounds really similar with 225k listed at $7k. 2000/2002 pretty much the same, again, according to that Slee guide.

Good luck! Well sort of, you're looking in my neck of the woods!!

^^^The AZ rig from Minnesota could be snow birds who kept the LC in AZ and lived there during the winter.

Wanted to get the opinion of those on the board. I have the opportunity to purchase a 05 LX from a friend of mine, so I am debating on selling my 99. Purchased it from the second owner who had the vehicle from 2004. TB/WP changed out 2 years ago, and being in Hawaii, we have no rust. Am I asking too much? Debating on throwing it up on eBay to see if I can reach a broader market. 1999 Lexus LX470/UZJ100 Thanks for your input!

Based on my last three months of shopping from CA I'd say it's a bit overpriced IMHO. 2000+ is ATRAC and VSC which a lot of people seem to value here stateside. I would include some interior pics to sweeten it depending on how nice it is inside. In CA at 9-10k it would probably go quickly. Of course I don't know the market in Hawaii and I'm biased because I'm a buyer not a seller!!

Best of luck to you.

Errr, should've elaborated a bit more. I tired to edit my original post but I couldn't for some reason. I put that high knowing the inevitable lowball would happen haha, but good to know what I can expect in CA. I have family there, so I might figure out a way to send it there and sell..

There seems to be a lot more Lexus 470 than 100 series Landcruiser for under 15k within the years of 2003-2009. Why?
