Hey guys. I'm a newb here.

Curious about your thoughts on a 1999 LC - listed for $11500.

Toyota Landcruiser 1999

It has OME Shocks and Springs along with Slee Off Road Sliders. I've looked on KBB and see its a little high but considering the add ones I thought I would ask the experts. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Thanks,

it looks like it has the rear locker. if you are not in the market for atrac, this looks like a good deal on a clean hundy. if you are not hauling a loaded truck, the springs might be a little stiff? i would want to see all maintenance records esp timing belt and oil changes, but i would buy it.

Thanks for the reply. I talked to the guy tonight and he said the timing belt was replaced at 97k miles back in 2007.

I feel like I'm at the cross roads of paying for a LC in cash and not having to worry about a car payment and having to fill it up with gas every weekend to go fishing and camping OR getting a smaller 4runner type of SUV.

I work out of my house so traveling to and from work isn't a concern I just want something long term. How many miles would an average 100's life span be?

Thanks again for the help. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

Mike

i think if you have all maintenance records and the truck inspects well, and you are doing MUD spec maintenance, you could be driving the truck into the few hundred thousand miles plus... by then the 200s will be in the teens of thousands of $$ ;)

No comparison. It's not just the size, it's the build quality. 200k easy. 300k highly likely. If you're only driving 10k a year, a smaller SUV may save you $20-30/week at most. You can run regular in the LC. And yes, always pay cash. Borrowing money for a vehicle is the inverse of building wealth.

LX 470 differences in 2005-2007

Are the any differences in the 05-07 LX 470?
I've been searching for a 06-07 LC to replace the 99 but the LX prices have tanked and I might get one for the wife. Theres a lot of 06 LX inventory out there but very few Land Cruisers.
Thanks,
Ant.

Finally buying a uzj100

The day has finally come. I'm driving 5.5hrs tomorrow to buy a 2000 Land Cruiser with only 80k miles in the color I want, Silver. For $14.9k Seems like a good price from the other 4 i've looked at were the same price and in way worse shape.

The local Toyota dealership's service dept inspected it today and said that everything was surprisingly perfect.

The only downsides so far other than $4.5/g gasoline is that the emblems are gold, and it only has one master key though. I can make a valet key for pretty cheap right?

Has anyone tried stripping the gold badges and getting them chromed? I'm thinking about painting the back ones in black pearl.

That's a great deal! (assuming it's in good shape). There's an 01 here in town with 97k on the clock asking $20.8k!

Good Price. I paid $15.5 for my 2000 last April (77K).
I also had to remove the gold. A heat gun and dental floss will do it.
There will be gunk to clean. 3m adhesive remover works well, available at Walmart. The sombreros were no problem, but the letters broke in a few places, Never looked straight to me so i ordered a chrome set from toyota parts barn. About $150 total, not including wheel caps(ebay). Love the silver.

When I bought my 99 Atlantis Blue Mica in 2004 it had The GOLD Teeth package. I charged it over the the Black Pearl emblems that I bought fairly inexpensively ($100) and have alwasy loves it. I even had a shop match the black pearl on 18" Land Cruiser wheels. It's the same process BMW uses to paint the M5 wheels with gloss black under liquid chrome. Send me a PM or an e-mail and I will post some pics. We still have the truck and we're looking for an LX then I will make the LC my fishing partner.

2006 LX470 30K Miles

What would everyone estimate a 2006 LX 470 with 30K should go for. 2 owner, no paint damage besides resprayed bumpers.

Retail Value from dealer?

Got it.

After renting a Carolla (averaging 40mpg in mt driving), driving 650 miles through storms, falling rocks, mountains and valleys and DC traffic, I finally got what I was looking for.

Averaged 21 mpg on the way home. I that wasn't a total fluke.

I highly recommend George's Trading post in Scottdale, PA outside of Pittsburg. It was the easiest car buying ever. Told them I wanted it. They answered all my questions accurately, had them take it to the toyota service dept for an inspection, drove up, signed the check and drove home. No haggling or hassel. Small town hospitality.

They have a lot of nice 4runners on the lot too. GEORGE'S TRADING POST - www.georgestradingpost.net

Buying LX 470

New to the forum and wanted to know what you guys think of the deal. After looking first for a nice 4Runner then after not finding on with the equipment I wanted for a resonable price. I started looking at Land Cruisers and in the end I am buying a Lexus LX 470. The only Land Crisers I could find were to old or to many miles or too "used". The LX I have found has only 85k miles it is a 2000 and I am buying it for 13300. I will be flying out to pick it up on Thursday and driving it back (900 miles). I will try and attach a picture. The photos are from when they first got it..uncleaned... Well anyway here she is.
Thanks Russ

Congrats on the purchase...

But how in the world did you average 21 mpg on the 100. I am lucky if I get 17 on the freeway..

Good deal. You'll enjoy the 900 miles.

Hey hunnerd enthusiasts. I'm looking. 2000, light color, prefer no nav. No lexus (no offense)

Plan on keeping it for 10-12 years like I did my 62, so I'd like to start off under 150K well maintained miles. Expo mods are a plus since that's going to be the build...
