For a clean freak on a budget, and you only mentioned wheeling, I would guess an 80 might be the truck for you, unless you get lucky in your search. If the truck is going to fill a larger role than just wheeling (commuting, highway travel, groceries and soccer), then hoser is right, the 100 is way ahead of the 80 in most respects for most folks, then you might be better waiting it out until you find the one that works for you. my .02.

Cool. Thanks again. The SELL-A-THON has started here in the O.C. Two very clean 96 and 97 LCs. Both over $10K. Yikes! I'll keep searching!

I looked at a 2000 cruiser w/ 215k on the clock... Should there be reason for concern regarding the small tick I heard when first starting the truck but went away in minutes? He wants 10k for it but I don't want to beat up a friend, what is this truck worth?

A friend showed me a link to a SF 100 series with 170K miles, well maintained and no issues, and the owner's price was $7800. It went rather quickly.

I would think so. Even at 170k on the clock, $7800 is a screamin' deal!

I'm considering selling my black 2001 UZJ 100 with ~114,000 thousand miles on it. I've driven it across country twice. Used to live on the east coast and it has some rust on it from when it was over there. I'm currently in San Francisco and am looking to sell locally. It's been serviced regularly and has undergone maintenance a couple times. It's in very good condition. I recently replaced the shocks and A Arms. I removed the running boards (i'll ship them at your cost if you really want them), removed the rear wing, removed the rear seats (but will ship if necessary) and painted the grille black. If anyone locally in the bay area is interested in checking it out please PM me. Thanks for looking.

Asking 14k obo

I'm not on the forum as much as I would like so if you have any questions or would like me to send pictures you can email me at taylorwrenn@gmail.com

How much of a project do you think this would be? PS Fender, Hood, Headlight and structure, suspension work to PS Front arms. Throw an ARB on the front...

If a guy were to pick it up for say $5k do you think you could get it in trail shape for another $5k?

AR-Auto Sales - SUV - Toyota - Land Cruiser

I had a quick question for you guys. Anyone her in Europe or more to the point Spain? I'm a California transplant living here and have been looking into an LC for a family car/road trip/ski wagon. The problem over here is the prices are much higher than the states

Example

Procedentes de: Toyota, HDJ, P.V.P. (€) de € 1.000,-

Anyone on here have any experience with the diesel 100's? I've read everything I can find on here but nothing is specific to the diesels with things to look for. Here is one that I have been looking at.

TOYOTA Land Cruiser 100 Todo terreno 4.2TDI VX AUTO Diesel de color AZUL del año 1999 con 265000km en Valencia

Also, any problems with the adjustable suspension? Expected engine life?

Thanks,

Paul

Things to look for, '98 LX470

Came across a 98LX for sale, super clean (literally brand new in and out), only 130k miles. 90k maintenance was done.

For 11K, thinking about picking it up and giving my 06 to the wife.

My question is, are there any 'gotchas' or other things to be on the lookout for with the 98 year model? I'm going to drive it mid afternoon today and want to give it an educated look.

Just bought a '98 LX and love it. Did a lot of research prior to buying. The main concern for me was a clean VIN, proper regular maintenance, no rust, a master key, and an addressed front diff (mine was ARB'd). I found one that met that basic criteria plus many others. (I bought Christo's old truck.)

A good one will off you a stellar platform and many great miles in style. But you knew that. ;)

Good luck!

Good to hear. Is it your DD? Will definitely be for me, little concerned about having a 13YO vehicle for daily use. But i know this truck is good for way more than 130k miles. At 9k miles per year (which is a high year for me), it will take me 7 years to hit 200k...

Ok Fellas. Yes I've read a bunch of threads on the 100s. According to you, which 100 in the 98 to 2002-3 model years is the best/favorite/less maintenance truck? I currently have an 80, but I'm thinking of stepping it up to a 100. Here in the O.C. southern Cali. 1999-2001 truck are going from $12k to 14.5K. with about 115k miles on them. So.........?????? What do you guys have to say. Your word is better than some of the threads on here. Thank again Fellas.

I have a 99 L/C with 201k miles on it. Bought it from my high school buddy. He did all the routine servicing at the dealer and I change the oil every 6k. The L/C runs absolutely great. I added the cold induction air filter from K&N which improved pick up and mileage. You should have no problems.

Get a 2004 LX or LC. Last year that all the old timers worked for Toyota in Japan building them.

I mean, the only difference that would matter to me is ATRAC. This is not meant to fuel a debate between which truck is better etc. But know that you 2006 LC is ATRAC equipped and the 98 LX470 is not.
