I have found an 1983 FJ-60. The guy is asking 1200 firm for it. Everything mechanical runs like a wet dream and the frame is solid. However the body and interior are below par. I am looking to make this into an extreme beater. I'm planning on doing something like richard's doing to his pig. Is this a good deal? Those of you who have the 2f w/ carburater and manual transmission, what do you think about the engine and tranny?

Rust sucks no matter what. Ask me how I know. But for 1200 if it runs like a champ. I say jump on it. But make sure mechanicals are good to go and you have the funds to keep it going and repairs etc. the drivetrain is great if it has been taken care of.

I though I had the $ for another truck too, but no dice. Only way for us to do it is to upgrade the wifes 4runner to an 80 or 100.

I guess what I am saying is. Make sure you can handle 2 rigs at this point in your life.

John I'd make sure all the drivetrain is good maybe run compression on the cylinders and check out the engine as much as you can. If you want a buggy or a chop truck or something then your basically just buying a drivetrain. I'd try to talk him down to 1000 as well I mean 1000 in cash will look pretty damn good when you hold it in front of him, keep the other 200 in the wallet til he says no. It sounds pretty good if the engine and drivetrain are good though. If you get it definitely let me know I'll come help you do some mods and stuff maybe we can chop and bob it.

I'd be careful of frame rust... If the body is in poor conidition there's a good possibility the frame could be junk as well... But other than that I second everyone else, if everything mechanical is fine, go for it.

compression test!!! I have the gauge you can borrow.......... it is the best way to tell you what shape the engine really is. If you want some one to go with you to check it give me a call.

chopped 60s are kewl

They bob really cool. Eric from Fla has such a beast.
Top is cut off from the driver's door back. He uses
a full family cage and canvas bikini top. I rode many
a trail in his beast at GSMTR. AWESOME with the top off.
I have some excellent video of wheelin' GSMTR with Eric,
Bill, Capt'n and some of the FLCA boys.
Go for it provided the FRAME isn't rusted out.

Well guys, got some pics of it, and it's in worse shape than i had originally thought. There is more frame rust than I am interested in. So i'm not getting this one. However, i'm still looking. If you see anything let me know.
