I guess he hasn't posted here for a while and IG since August. What a cool journey for them. I'm curious how they secure their truck when they're trekking.

When talking with the people that travel the world rarely do they have problems. The problems you most commonly heard about are 3rd party.

200+ pounds on top of your roof will be interesting at speed.

Yeah, I'm not sure what my RTT weighs, but with the rack and some bags in the cargo carrier I bet mine is similar in weight and I definitely notice it on the road, but I also don't have a rear sway bar sit higher and more roll.

He may net a bit less if he's cut out some section of roof, but that may be covered in the thread elsewhere

My old setup weighed about 200 as well, 160 for the Tepui and 50 for the Prinsu rack. I really did not notice the weight driving around town and camping/wheeling. I also have a Whiteline HD rear sway bar.. Im sure that helped! I have tested this by driving it now without anything on it.
I really doesn't feel much different, It does look odd without the tent and rack though..LOL!

200 plus? I have a maggiolina medium 150 plus a frontrunner slimline modified so I have over 200 plus, using a GFC brings me lower in height and under 140lb

As far as speed goes with 200+ on the roof.. I have had mine up to 90 or so on our last trip to Telluride, super stable even with side winds going through Utah..

I noticed my weight up top day one and it is lower in both weight and height than anything talked about above. Maybe Im just the sensitive one:princess::flipoff2:
Dude Im gonna guess you were born in an LC Ive only driven mine and tested a couple others, with no RTT my truck is like a race car handling wise, with RTT ts rolly. Im installing front whiteline sway tomorrow with your quik dissconnects to see if it helps dirtsunrise has your set up little heavier and only run the front sway and Tim says it good to go.

plus I have kchilites pro 6 lights 40 pounds ish. prety heavy for lol lights. get it

I have 25 gal of water, 65gal of fuel and a fridge in the back. Full size spare, rear kaymar, front ARB, group 31 battery. The entire build is so heavy it's not made for going fast or doing crazy off camber turns but the truck is in South America, so things don't go fast ever. Throughout the entire trip I probably averaged 30mph.

I never weighed the construction but I lifted it on with one other person, so 200lbs is not too far off I'd say. I'm not a strong guy.

Me & my cruiser are taking a brake from traveling, it's stored in a garage in Paraguay and doing quite well (still runs once in a while) I hope I can continue next summer or the year after. Right now back to work though.

Oh and I forgot, those alu boxes have probably 150lbs of gear in them easily (climbing, kayaking, surfing equipment). :D I go through brake pads like they're butter and always went to toyota dealers to get decent ones.

As for stuff getting stolen, just a small anecdote: 300 days in South America: everything was bolted down and with locks (I ordered 20 identically keyed locks we used for everything: shovel, ladder, maxtraxx & alu boxes), nothing ever happened except for one of those times when we didn't find a nice campground to camp we went to a hotel and parked the car in a video surveyed parking lot inside of the hotel courtyard. It was in eastern Brazil and one of the most expensive nights of the trip (60$/night, usually we paid $5-$10 for camping). Nothing was stolen except for our wet swimming trunks that we hung on the bikes to dry on the back. It was really annoying and even more so given we paid that much for it.

Ive found your MUCH more likely to be robbed, or things taken off your rig in good ‘ole America than in any South American Country. I always heard the stories of “banditos” robbing tourist on the Baja Penninsula, but I know far more people that have been shot/stabbed/robbed in Detroit!

6 wheel drive.

You'd solve the rear weight bias problem, and possibly have the ultimate landcruiser RV

Same here in Lynn Ma. I know way more people shot stabbed napped than Ive heard of anyone rolling thru the americas or Mexico

Sad, but true

Perhaps you should connect your front sway bar.

I cant see the expression on your face but Im guessing this meant to be humor. No worries either way. If one is not able to notice 200 new lbs on top of the roof they should check there suspension sway bar connected or not.:)

I like this, if I won the lottery I would build one and of course Cummins powered
