Rebuilding the 700R to the cruiser might as well build it a little while I'm in there.

1. What stall rating do I want on the torque converter? Can or should I just keep the one that's in there if it was working fine?

2. Can I install a temp sensor somewhere (thinking with the remote filter... unless that's a bad idea too)

3. I am looking at putting a shift kit in with a boost valve around .500 should I replace the clutches as well? Is there a way to guage how hard the shift kits shift?

4. Source for this stuff? Summit racing? Local parts store?

5. If I can a big cooler can I get the tranny too cold? If so can I plumb in a t-stat?

It's still SUA and sees a lot of road miles so it needs to be driveable. But I'd like to be done with the drivetrain after it's together.

Here's the living room build thread/pictures

Thanks
Chris

first off, Georg (orangefj45) is the "resident guru" for automatics....I ordered ALL the parts for mine thru him, based on his recommendations for a rock crawler, and have absolutely zero complaints.

I run a big cooler with it's own fan on my 700....it has a temp sensor that I've not yet hooked up, but IMO they can't be too cold. I run an inline T-fitting off the line from the trans TO the cooler to monitor temps....definitely run one.

Georg sent me a stock HD stall speed convertor....no complaints, doesn't overrun the brakes, very easy to "ease" forward and feather the gas.

Georg isn't doing the tranny stuff anymore, I don't think...isn't he working for Gary Kardum now? I'd still pm him over on pirate though, he might give a little insight....

I thought I might have shop bought today Chris, but the place went for $340k

That's big money!

I'll shoot him a PM.

Thanks

Georg Is not dealing with Parts anymore, but he knows his stuff!.. He Build one for his rig, then decided to go to an Atlas with a different Rear output so he built a new one.. i Bought the First 700r4 for my Rig.. He is Wheelin in Texas Right now, then swinging thru Colorado with my Tranny!!:bounce2:

It is Built Just like Woodys.. the above post has all the goodies in it

Again, Budget and 700r4 dont go well together in the same sentence.. But you may find some deals!

Im planning on Running a BIG cooler in front of the Radiator, With a Taurus E-Fan Cooling everything..

I am running mine stock with a stock converter. It's from an 87 pickup. The cooler is up front before my radiator. I run contour V6 fans (like 2 mini tarus fans). I rarely see the temp above 125. There is a port on the drivers side where a temp sensor can be.

My approach on not building the tranny up was I wanted it to slip. This will help in absorbing driveline shock as the tires slip and grab. It is a great tranny and I get good engine braking too.

HTH,
