@RET2 did you go with the rear swing out on your bumper?

Yes sir I did, working on designing a bracket to hold an 11# gas bottle and trying to decide whether to relocate camera to spoiler or looking thru spare. Again thanks for your help getting this far

I just read through the 14 pages of this thread. Bubba looks great! I just picked up a 2013 in Gray with dark gray interior and am just starting my build plans. I live in central CO and spend a lot of time in the hills, so I hope to have it on 35's by the end of summer. Glad to hear the OME BP-51's are treating you well. I have also been looking at the ICON lifts. If things go real well, I will have bumpers too. That Slee rear is awesome, I helped a buddy install a Slee rear on his 80 back in September and i was very impressed with the build quality and fitment.

Thanks for the inspiration! If you make it back out to CO this summer, I would love to check Bubba out!

Thanks for the props! :)

I’ll be at the LCDC event in Telluride and also the Moab pre-run...along with a ton of other amazing rigs. Hope to see you there!

I really need to do an all-inclusive build thread one of these days, since the Bubba Beast thread really focuses on the last several big mods. Lots of other stuff I’d like to write up in one big retrospective sort of like Indycole has Done rather than lots of misc. posts.

Anyway, thanks for saying hey and congrats on your new project! Fun stuff always.

@Markuson I know it has been a while since you posted in your build thread, but figured it is as good a place as any to ask. In other threads, you've mentioned building a platform behind the front passenger seat for your National Luna fridge. I've looked in probably every fridge thread on here, and can't find any photos. Can you enlighten me on what you've done?

I have a National Luna 90 Twin, and a 2021 LC200 HE incoming. I'm hoping it will fit where you've described in a fixed position. It is 33" long, 19 1/2" wide, and 21" tall (38 1/2" with the lid open.) I had it on a Tembo Tusk Jumbo slide in the 4Runner, on a home made Goose Gear platform. I'm thinking that's going to be pretty high for us (5'8" and 5'3"), plus I'd rather have the entire back end available for various uses. In the 4Runner, it took exactly have the space.

Thanks for any photos or details you have handy,
Steve

Heya Steve,

The platform you’re referring to was when I had both second row seats out...the fridge...and two Alu-Boxes on the floor.

The “platform” wasn’t raised...but rather it was flat on the carpet, and provided a way to have precise placement of the two Aluboxes spaced to allow access to their latches...and to keep the fridge spaced as well.

So...it was heavy plywood that I created channels in that matched the skybox bottoms. The platform also allowed me to strap the Aluboxes down by their end handles...so that I could open them without strap removed. Since the Aluboxes were close to the height of my drawers, it worked as a sleep surface as well.

But... My NL is a 60 Twin...not a 90. With my 60, I can fit it behind passenger with its long side opening to the row 2 door... Or...behind driver opening to row two.

For a 90...you would need to turn it 90 degrees so the doors open up toward front.

I rarely use the wood platform now, but if I do a long solo trip, I’d do it just to save space, lose the weight of another seat, and keep cargo low.

To secure the NL 60 Twin to the floor, I use NL’s fridge platform, which lets me secure the platform from underneath by drilling holes to match the heavy seat anchor bolts in the floor.

I’ll try to dig up photos...
I know this may be hard to visualize...

Thank you @Markuson . Knowing that you used the NL mounting plate helps considerably. That’s what I was considering if I don’t find another home made option. I won’t have drawers, so it will be mounted as low as possible to open the lid. I have a set of red hinges on their way if I can’t open the lid fully. I’ll figure out a platform for the base once my truck arrives. Or, rather in the spring, as I won’t be cutting plywood in the snow in January. The photos would be nice, but your description was pretty clear. I did machine design for 35 years, so I can visualize pretty well. Thanks again!
