If the belt brakes on the SC how long can you drive it before you damage something and what will you damage? I have run it without the belt at low RPM but never drove it. Can you drive at speed or are you limited to low RPM? Anyone with a SC have any experience with this?

Get it fixed ASAP. Somebody on here can give you the number off of theirs and you can cross it to Gates. Its the same belt as a late model GMC pickup or something common like it and should be readily available. I always carried a spare back with the toolkit.

I carry a spare. It will run without it but not quite as good as naturally aspirated.

The number on the belt is 00602-17620-530 (inked). I have gotten both Gates and GY replacement belts from TRD so they are sourcing them from two different vendors. There is no "Gates" number present on the belt, just the TRD number and the Gates name.

Dan - can you supply those belts?

What do you think?....:)

Of course I can, silly lad........:D

The Gates belt part number is K060705. Nice info to have if you are in Bumf*&^, Texas and one breaks.

Well, it doesn't say TOYOTA on it... ;p

I do carry a spare belt (Gates) and the tool to install it. But what if you loose an idler pulley or the belt tensioner and you are in the middle of nowhere. Can you drive it without fawking something up and how far at what speed?

PPC drove his around for a few days while he was monkeying around with his idler. He told me it ran OK and as I recall not quite as good as stock.

So could I/should I ASSUME it wont cause any damage?

That's how I read it.
