Noticed my driver side clamp (driveshaft on the wheel side) is broken during my yearly oil change. No grease has leaked out. Is this fix as easy as getting a new metal clamp and installing it?

Thanks!

Swing by your local NAPA, they have a replacement clamp, inexpensive like $6 each. Stay away from worn type clamps.

Will do. Thanks!

Edit: “worm clamp” typo error

Both of the small and big clamps on my LX are now NAPA. 1  job.

CVB 6865833 small clamp
CVB 6865834 large clamp

Get a crimping tool- also there is a crimp gap that your meant to achieve in order to get the correct tightness- tool little and it won’t seal properly, too much and it could tear the boot- check the FSM

I fixed mine with the Mcmaster worm type clamps earlier in the week, just double checked and they fixed the leak I had from a lift. If you want another option I would highly recommend them as they have a couple other big threads on them about the success with them.

For drmwvr, I think the part #'s on McMaster-Carr are: 5574K25 and 5574K16. I haven't used them yet, but have read enough positive things that I am going to get a pack of each and try them.

Thanks everyone!

I don’t know if you just stated it wrong or what. That loose clamp looks like it is off the diff side tripod boot.

I may have! Assuming the bottom of the picture is the wheel side, the red circle is the clamp in question. Thanks!

Like fjc-man suggested, the area you have circled in red has the yellow clamp in place, per the pic in your first post. The loose clamp is from the inboard boot.

Ah, I see what you are saying. Will check it out!

Got some small weeping/splattering going one. Didn’t feel like doing a reboot now. Done it before and it’s definitely an afternoon thing. Also done the McMaster version too before. Figured I would try to Napa way.

Ordered the clamps from Napa. It was less than $3 per clamp. Worked out great. Bought the clamper tool on Amazon. Super easy. Probably took me 15 mins for two clamps (one side each). Just need to cut the old one off. The tool is self explanatory when you use it.

Will see how it goes. Figured for $6 bucks, no harm in trying.

Before I changed it.
