Hello all,

At first glance I THOUGHT my CV boot was split and the grease was being thrown out of a crack or hole in the boot. Upon further discovery, the boot seems fine, but it could be seeping past the band clamp. Also the grease is a milky white consistency, is that normal? If it IS normal, should I just remove the band clamp and put a new one on, or should I go ahead and swap the axle for the new one I purchased? Thanks in advance!

water contamination is not your friend.....
Agreed, I'm just trying to see what could have caused that to happen. I can not find a meaningful cut/crack/split on that boot anywhere that would have allowed water in.

Also, trying to determine if the consistency of the grease is normal, or if it does look like a mix of water/oil.

Remove boot, re-grease, re-boot!

Yellow: looks like an exit point
Green: looks thicker than the rest implying the band has cut through the boot
The ring of spray looks to be at directly the same point as those abnormalities
As to white, IDK...usually inner seal allowing gear oil in would turn it brown
maybe someone used white lithium grease in the boot??!!

At any rate, have new grease, an inner seal and some gear oil on hand and swap
in the new one, then reboot, re-grease and bag this one for a spare.

My 2 cents.
