I've spent countless hours reading the amazing builds of so many others here on MUD that I finally think that with the whole situation around the world I should probably spend my down time and put my 2 cent into the jar.

Acquiring the Cruiser Backstory:
So at this time, I am 17 and it's 2018. As usual, My mom found a bronze statue of three frogs spitting water at each other on Craigslist in Glen Rose, Tx. So my dad and I took our F250 farm truck down to pick it up. Upon meeting the gentleman selling the statue, we saw a 94' Cruiser in his driveway; she seemed pretty beat. We asked him about it and it turned was selling all of his assets because he was moving to South America. At this time I was not aware of the following cruisers had all around the world. We ended up purchasing it for a very good price several months later.

What was wrong when we got it...
  • 1fz leaked like a beer can shot with 20 bb's
  • dash lights did not work, including the radio
  • the wind blew through every crack
  • sunroof leaked
  • steering column cover cracked
  • interior a mess
  • tires were basically like cheese wheels
  • she wondered the road like a drunk bull
  • many many other little things
All that being said this is a cruiser so naturally, it still drove just fine. Two years ago my wrenching ability was at a very basic level and I was still in High School. So we took the cruiser to a local JDM car shop for them to reseal the engine and do basic maintenance. We asked for all OEM parts and we were billed for them in turn... As a small amount of time passed some of their work began to fail. This is when I discovered MUD and I got my feet wet with a wrench in hand.

First Wrenching Experience
As with most old hoses, the cooling lines started to leak. My dad helped me order all the hoses and heater control valve that was needed to do a basic overhaul. First Lesson, have a bucked on hand when pulling any hose off of a filled cooling system. My garage became a biohazard within about a minute of newbie wrenching. Several long nights in the garage in various awkward positions I was able to get all of the hoses replaced. Then I read on here about the Pesky Heater Hose so I ordered a kit from Wits' End. Once everything was complete I refilled, burped and tested my sealed system. No Leaks!

I took the cruiser to Land Cruiser Specialists in Austin, TX to get my front airfields done because I had school in session and didn't have the time/was nervous to do it myself. My dad got himself a LX470 soon after and now we have two Cruisers in the family.

I used to have a pretty bad vibration on the highway, guess I was lucky to do the U-joints and not find out the hard way.

Currently working on...
Now I am a year past legal adulting and I am working on paint correction and repainting the fender flare.

She does get used but not abused :zilla:

If I ever needed to I would feel ok if not comfortable with towing the trailer with one horse.

This is how the fender repaint and wetsanding are going to remove the previous owner's overspray!

Took this trailer back to the ranch instead of using the truck, she towed very well. Stayed cool, At least the engine did, not too sure about the trany...

Really nice work so far! I am in the middle of replacing all of the heater hoses (and many, many other items) as well. Gotta stay occupied. I am glad Wit's End is still shipping!

A young man and his truck; it's a beautiful thing. :grinpimp:
Love the red with black flares. Good looking beasty.

I hear ya brother, Engineering Degree and 100k+ in debt in the mid 90's... that was broke.

I’m studying mechanical engineering and all my summer/hustle money goes directly to girlfriend and Cruiser fund 😂

ME degree will be worth it. Are you going to UT-Austin? Saw that you took the truck to Edwin's shop for the birfs.

I’d dump the GF, then you’ll have a lot more money for the Cruiser.....enjoy the addiction !
