Hello Mud,

I think it's time to replace the master cylinder on the LX450. I am looking at options, and there is of course OEM, and in the after market options - I see AISIN and ADViCS.

Does anyone know if the Advics one is of the same OEM level quality as the Aisin ones? I am leery of using anything other than OEM or OEM suppliers when it comes to my cruiser, I have used AISIN in the past for things like Water pump, and had great success.

Thanks for your input.

Advics is Aisin + Denso I think. I've used the brake masters in conversions and they are stamped "AISIN". Seem as good as OEM.

ADVICS is a mix of Aisin, Denso, Sumitumo brake and chassis departments spun off and combined in 2001. They are now taking over all braking systems for Toyota specifically.

Classic Japanese move of spinning off high-performing depts into new companies.

Still under Aisin Seiki's business umbrella though.

Buy with confidence. Good stuff.

Other than the color of the box, indistinguishable from the dealer part.
Thank you - I appreciate how often I see your answers on these types of threads!

In the FSM, I see two non-resuable gaskets. The first between MC and brake booster and the second between MC and Piston Stopper Bolt. Should I buy those separately or are they typically included? And is there a good bench bleeding guide?

Starting to think I may not know enough to actually take this one on but will read some threads first.

They are not included. Buy from your Toyota dealer.
@OGBeno

I do not see any references to a gasket “between MC and brake booster” in the Toyota Microfiche of the Chassis FSM. Can you tell me where you Seneca reference to a gasket here? I just took my MC off and there was no gasket. Can I get a PN?

[“and the second between MC and Piston Stopper Bolt” - I’m not sure what the “Piston Stopper Bolt” refers to].

The gasket between the booster and the firewall is 44785-35020.
The gasket between the master and booster is 47275-24010

Thank you. Interestingly, my original '78 FJ40 never had a gasket installed between the Booster and the Firewall. I can see where makes sense.

It looks like these PN's are called out for later ('80's and later) model FJ's. That's why I couldn't find them for the '78.

You’re in the 80 series section 1991-1997.

Resurrecting this thread. I’m in the market for a new MC and am considering the Advics from rock auto. It costs about as much as a new rebuild kit from Toyota does.

If one deleted their ABS/LSPV could they get away with ordering a new MC for a vehicle W/O ABS like the one pictured?
