Hey Boltripper. Hows the truck coming? mine is just getting back from Slee later today.
I spoke to them about doing the same swap on mine next year possibly.
Any learnings that you would provide? What would you do differently?

I'll give you a full overview of the process once I get the truck back. Hope to have a chance to go get her in the next few weeks.

Welcome to the club.....you'll love the additional power ....the 4.7 loves to rev...

Lou

Thanks Lou,

Appreciate all the help in answering my questions. Can't wait to get it back and enjoy it...

I've said it once but I'll say it again, GD SLEE DOES SOME NICE WORK!!

4.56's going in now, then a full break-in so the engine and gears are all set. Looking like October 7th for the flight out then I'll bring her home. More to follow with some trip reports and pics.

Wish me luck -

You don't need luck, its SLEE BUILT!

Fantastic build, I'm curious to date what is your favorite modification? I suspect that once you get her back the engine swap will top the list.

I know it will sound funny, but I did the mods with the intent to make a well rounded vehicle that supports my hobbies and passions. These being of course: 4x4 vehicles, firearms, camping / long overland trips, Amateur radio and FPV quad-copters.

I wanted the Land Cruiser to be the center around which all my interests were accomplished. So far its been perfect other than the lack of performance that I want in a vehicle making cross-country trips. The suspension modifications are perfect for my area of focus being over-landing and at the most difficult, running passes in and around Ouray / Silverton each year.

Its a perfect rig to camp for extended periods and makes a great base for remote operations. It hauls all my tactical gear to classes all around the country.

The electronic setup with the National Luna Dual Battery and my custom made power distribution give me plenty of USB power for devices along with a great inverter setup that provides me with the ability to run my FPV setup / monitors for my quads, charge my lipo batteries and give me plenty of performance to run my radio gear and have D-Star capable rig to access Icoms gateway anywhere that I can get cell signal. I don't even need access to repeaters.

Basically its my perfect truck.....

I think the new power plant will just enhance my comfort in doing everything I love to do along with giving me even more reliability as I'm running an almost zero mile 2UZFE....... I've got big., but realistic expectations and think Christo and his team have done a wonderful job

It's that time ....

Can't wait for a seat of the pants review! You will be posting on the way home right, maybe a short youtube video of merging onto the highway?

I am waiting too!!

Sorry guys - Been crazy

Anyway the truck looks amazing, just like a factory install. Joe really is amazing.

The truck drove home great and the choice of 4.56 gears was spot on and thanks to Christo for that recommendation @sleeoffroad

I found myself driving the trip home in the left lane, passing trucks whenever necessary (Unlike before being stuck and having to pick my spots). I think the entire trip across Kansas with the cruise set at 80 the truck only downshifted 5 or 6 times going up hills.. The torque is perfect. Compared to my last trip in the 1FZ it was just relaxing, power when needed and a smooth ride.

I had to go to Pittsburgh several days after for a funeral and have just been crazy busy here.

Going to get a real camera and do some detailed pics.... More to come and thanks for hanging in there.

Best,

John

Nice! Your build is an inspiration. I daily drive a 2001 tundra with the 4.7 motor, and have taken extended trips in my father's '06 lx470. I am a believer, and look forward to taking my rig into Slee for the conversion. Bring on the pics and more detailed review!!

Have you had a chance to gauge MPG yet?

Not yet. I'm trying to get a marks speedo adapter to work as I'm off about 3-4 mph with the gears and tires. Things are not as easy anymore as I don't have an 80 or a 100 series..... More of a 180 series
