The ICON 80 is being taken to SEMA garage the day after New Years where I will spend the day learning what I can and the truck will stay for five days of testing. Although it will be on a dyno, it’s NOT a HP dunno so they will not have that info for me.

They are setting me up with a local shop where I will HP the ICON 80 before and after turbo. I will also be HP dynoing my own SuperCharged LX so that we can have lots and lots of data and plenty of apples to apples comparisons.

On the second weekish of January I will be driving out to a buddy’s shop where we will be tearing down and assembling for the turbo whole documenting everything possible. Finally assembly documentation is a condition of the CARB certification.

During this time while I’m at his shop we will be determining what is left to machine so I can start that process. Once I have machined final parts then the truck goes back to SEMA garage for finally inspection and data dyno and sniffer test. Assuming it passes we are off to the races.

My goal is work quick to get this all done and kits out to happy owners while it’s still winter. Fingers crossed.

For all those still interested/on board, I will be giving a one week notice on MUD, Instagram, Facebook and the mailing list on when the kits will be for sale. When it’s out it’s out. Don’t expect a second run right away. I need to exhale after this.

Well done Joey! My BEST Christmas present this year !!! Thanks for all your incredible work on this.

Woo hoo! Merry Christmas!

Right after Christmas I’m having my rig send in for some initial testing & prep to set up & be ready for install.

I’m going to have a compression test & leak down test performed to check the condition of the head & pistons/rings.

I’m pretty sure I’m committed to having the head rebuilt & refreshed with a new head gasket.
I have no knowledge if this has ever been done & think it’ll be a good time to do with 230,000 miles & forced induction being added.

I’m going to tackle some oil leaks at that time too. I’ve ordered distributor O-ring, oil pump gasket with new 7 screws, front crank oil seal, & valve cover gasket.

Injectors will be sent out to RC Engineering for cleaning, mapping, & rebuild.

Miscellaneous parts (exhaust manifolds, valve cover, intake, heat shields, will go for cleaning & powder coating.

Replace exhaust O2 sensors.

And install the turbo oil return line into the upper oil pan.

Very exciting times!!

Kinda like this oil leak kit? :hmm:

The only “issue” I see when dyno your SC pink panties is that your engine is a 4.6 instead of 4.5 so there should be somewhere around 30HP difference between the 4.5 & 4.6 before SC. So I wonder if someone else with a SCed 4.5 can volunteer for the SC to turbo comparison.

I didn’t do anything for fuel trim, injectors or MAF. I doubt it’s even close to 30HP over stock SC.

Yeah that 30hp number would really be stretching it since going from 100mm to 101mm bore changes the displacement less than 0.1L. The displacement change is responsible for maybe 5-6hp at best I would guess. As long as you didn't do any headwork it should be ok.

4.477L to 4.567L

Annecdotally the only TRD SC dyno I could find was around 170awhp. If you are way over that there might be an issues comparing apples to apples. lol.

Joey, how many currently on the list? I think you are bringing 25 kits out? May be good to know who and where we each are on the list

Merry Christmas!

What happens on the SEMA dyno if it’s not for hp? Emissions?

Because there are now two shops following exactly what I’m doing I will not be detailing any numbers any longer.

Imitations are greatest form of flattery.

Copy as they might but unless they know the right peeps in China to make good copies of wit’send badges and stickers they gonna just have bad copies at best. Whomever are copyings they should just rebadge cxracing turbo kit with cool graphics.

Nope neither "company" is crediting or doing any kind of licensing. They are already trying to sell “kits” without any actual production. It’s just another one of those s***ty parts of doing business. But rest assured neither of them have put together anything as complete or will they be emissions certified.
