@scottryana, what material is the turbo-to-intake going to made of and how will it attach? Since you refuse to give us pics, I'm having to visualize how it might look...I've looked back at this thread: Turbo 1FZFE FZJ80 Build.

I'm being patient...I'm just visualizing. I'm just about to the point where I might go turbo w/o an engine rebuild because I'm thinking that I could rebuild it any time. I don't think this thing will blow up. That's a big move mentally for me because I come from the camp that you shouldn't boost an old motor. Maybe remove the pan to check bottom end, look under the valve cover (I've got a new head gasket) at springs, cam wear, etc. It doesn't use any oil...

We're replacing injectors, right? New fuel pump?

You know I am usually of the same thinking, but for 90% of these engines that I have seen or seen pictures of when people pull them down everything looks very good, even the higher mileage trucks. The cross hatch is still on the cylinders, the bearings all look new. A good example is the guy doing the high performance rebuild, taking all the time to document and measure everything. His bearings looked brand new, I have seen worse new bearings out of the box.

If it was me, and knowing we aren't pushing huge boost. I would send an oil sample off to Blackstone Labs and if it comes back with a clean bill of health I wouldn't do a single thing. I would slap a turbo on and run it. The headgasket issue seems to be due to age and design and use more than cylinder pressure and if it is going to go it will go with or without a turbo. At least that is my two cents.

I like that idea. Thanks to Google I now know that there is also a Blackstone Labs that caters to the bodybuilding crowd.

Yep it is PJ Braun's company. Good guy, checkered past.

I just have to stop by everyday and see if there’s news...

How do you guys feel about towing with the turbo? Been toying with buying a small camper.

Here you go Thomas, turbo placement fits with York OBA. Not something you can do with the TRD SC ;)

And Towing should be fine. Gas mileage won't be great as you run rich under boost, but you just adjust your driving style.

Whoa! Did we just get a pic!? Forget the trailer and the York. Is that our baby?

Part of the reason a turbo is going back on my clunker ;)

Any thought on my previous question about compatibility with exhaust systems?

Cheers and thanks

Just spotted white 79 troopy in the background

Yes the downpipe will be included since the existing y-pipe will be removed and replaced with the j-pipe for the turbo.

Hey Ryan, I’m looking at the new exhaust being offered by ottram, will this kit include a down pipe to the first cat location? Completely replace the y-pipe? Trying to plan ahead a bit

Friday PORN <spluge icon here> :censor:

A lot of the Australian guys on the 1FZ turbo FB page tow campers and seem to be pretty happy about it.

What's the name of this group on FB? I'll join it.
