Ok, love them or hate them but, body lifts have their advantages.

First off, the most obvious. They are CHEAP. Its a cheap lift to fit bigger tires.

That said, they provide additional room for tire articulation. Especially when going big like 35's, 37's.

Body lifts keep the center of gravity low compared to a suspension lift. How?? A body lift only lifts the body, not the entire vehicle. Your frame, drive train, fuel tank all stay low. A real positive with the 80!

Body lifts minimize the need for trimming, I'd install a body lift over trimming my fenders any day.

Body lifts also look really good on toyota vehicles, especially land cruisers. Toyota puts their vehicle bodies very low compared to say, chevy or ford.

I suggest a combination suspension lift and body lift. A mild, inexpensive example; a 2"-3" suspension lift with a 1"-2" body lift will yield good results. Larger tires, greater articulation and it will look good.

We did a 2.5 inch lift with 4" springs and 1" spacer, if I did it again I would go 2" body lift ( it would make engine compartment adjustments a little esier).

Thanks for the confirmation of issues with a 2.5" BL. That is why we only suggest a 2" BL max. Makes life easier.

BTW, GREAT TRUCK!

That is one sick looking ride!

I am thinking about putting a 1 inch lift on mine. I heard you have to move the radiator mounts as well right? With a 2 inch, what other adjustments do you need to make?

Lowering the radiator on the 1" body lift is optional, we provide instructions for doing so. Its an easy job either way.

with 1", i just trimmed the fan shroud to fit and left the radiator alone.

The fuel tank is mounted to the body not the frame.

I showed the pics of the radiator mounts on my build thread : https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/542884-new-build-thread.html . You don't have to remove the radiator. As I remember, the radiator mounts are easy to change if you go 2", but because of the stock configuration, it is harder with 2.5". We unbolted all of the wiring harness body/hold down/connectors under hood so nothing would bind when lifting body. Some of them we just never put back. The intake hose flex was enough, we just unbolted the air cleaner then bolted it back in after lifting the body. Good Luck.:)

I'd run a 1" body lift If I went any bigger than my 37s, but I also cut my fenders rather than do a body lift.

I did a 1" "Roger Brown" lift on my rig. See my build thread for detailed information on what it takes.

I've also done another 1" on a friends' truck, and after seeing that, another kit was purchased for his rig.

I re-drill the radiator mounts to keep the fan shroud centered. It's not too hard, and makes sure your airflow isn't compromised.

I love my lift. Minimal issues, the hardest part is really getting the old bolts out, especially if your truck lives in the rust belt.

That's gorgeous.

Can you do body lift just on front of FZJ80?
This is just to compensate the stink bug look after the OME lift. I just want to lift the front 1", this way I don't lost any more caster angle vs. putting spring spacers.

What you want are spring spacers. They will install on your front springs and give you that 1" you are looking for.

Metal tech spacers are my favorite.
