Does anyone have a parts # for a block heater for an HJ61 (12H-T)? This would be a big help. I suspect it's the same one as for the HJ60, but I'd feel better having that confirmed before I get my hands dirty. Also, was there any issues installing it that I should know about? Thanks.

I bought the Temro (zerostart) part # 3100021 It has instructions in it for the 3B and 2H...

I took a look at my engine and it reccomends the right rear (sittiing in the drivers seat) for the frost plug to remove.

I haven't tackled this yet, but I will let you know how it turns out when I do.

Thanks Brad, that should help a lot. Let me know how it goes. Anyone else dealt with an HJ61 living in a cold climate?

block heater

Toyota part number 28560-47031

That covers 87/08-90/01 HJ6# with 2H and 12H-T engines.

You could also try Napa or something similar. I just bought a new block heater for my 3B for $35 CDN. It might be cheaper than Toyota.

My toyota dealer could not find that part number for the 2h, but it did find part # C0140-00110-s2 heater, block. I paid $28CAD for mine today...The temro I posted was $40 and I returned it.

The instructions indicate that it should go:

" 1st from the rear RHS. After removing the OE retainer plug from the aluminum water jacket housing, install block heater and reinstall hold down bolts."

element direction 5-6 O'clock

i have been running the lower rad hose heaters in the ones i have brought in and it works very nice and much easier to install...
cheers
Wayne

Well it looks like on the 12H-T that alumium housing is solid and does not have the provision for the block heater.

I will be taking wayne's advice and installing a coolant heater on the lower rad hose.

Do you have any part numbers or pictures Wayne?
