Thats good looking. I bet seeing in person it does look alot better.

Boyd,

You know how stuff looks one way with a flash, and another if you turn off the camera flash? Can we see a couple more pics with different lighting, and no flash as well? I like how your kit brightens up the interior, and I also suspect it is less 'yellow' looking with natural lighting .. ie: in person; yes?

Thanks,

TY

The yellow wood reminds me of the SC430's interior

I think they dropped this in favor of a more brownish, walnut color wood this year

Hmmm...I can't pull up the pics?? I guess I'll take your word for it .-)
airlaird

I will post image tomorrow in the daylight. No flash.

That is very similar looking to my dash! That one would definitely need to be molded.

Ty -

I'll take some more pictures and post them up tomorrow.

I peeled mine off a little at a time after I bought my 80, typically when I was waiting for the wife in a parking lot and bored. I honestly did'nt care much for it at the time and felt fake wood dash trim was out of place in a Cruiser.

But after being nagged almost to death by the wife about how bad the inside looked without it, I finally gave in, ordered a new fake wood dash kit off of Ebay for $116.00, installed it and now everytime she gets in she tells me how much better it looks.

Of course, she would not ride in my 80 at all after I removed the carpet until I Durabaked the entire floor and bought new rubber floor mats.

Women.......mine is a bit on the hard to please side.

Looks nice.

Personally, I'm a fan of darker wood colors, but your kit looks okay.

All you need now is the wood steering wheel! hehe

Does anyone make a wood steering wheel to match the original dark wood of the '96 era FZJ80? The leather on mine is toasted and I can't find any local upolstry shop to redo it.

It might have been optional/standard on some models (VX Limited?) here, I think.

Ty,

Sorry I can't post any more pictures than this, my digital camera took a dump

The wood is a very blonde color, not nearly as yellow as the photos.
Look closest to the door where there is no glare. That is pretty close to the actual color.

I think I might still have the samples. If I do I would be glad to send them to you, or the're just $5 for 4 from wood dash experts.

That does look nice, too late for me to change now.

Boyd,

Thanks for that last pic, it really looks great! Honestly I think the OEM grain drives the mood of the 80 down because it's just too dark. It would be a welcome change to install a kit like yours that would brighten up the cabin space more, and let itself to the light leather and plastic bits.

Walnut [superior dash]

Sorry for getting back late on this. Trying to catch daylight to reduce the need for flash.

I wanted to go with something between light and dark. The photos to some extent do not justify how it looks in person. It would’ve helped if I wiped the finger prints off before I took the pictures this morning.

FYI - The border around the radio was not installed because I am waiting for it to warm up outside. I was considering replacing the radio and held back on installing that piece despite the fact it would not have mattered. In any event I am waiting for warmer weather. The one thing I did not like is the missing curvature console piece that should’ve met the lower dash.

Were you backing up while you were taking pictures?!
That's a sure way to spill that mega drink on the passenger's floor. :D

The walnut looks nice, bummer about the shift console piece.

Your kit adds the trim around the shifter and on the center console.

Looks good.

It looks better in person. It was surprisingly bright out this morning and I was backing up to try to shade the console by pulling parrellel to the house. No luck. I took a picture in the garage but it required too much flash.

The mega drink? That is my cost effective imitation of Starbuck's $3.95 grande version of Ice Mocca.

I ordered on the 17th, still not here, how long did yours take?

Order date: 01-17-2006 11:11:57 PM
Products ordered:
SKU: TYT-13
Product: Toyota Landcruiser 1995-1997
Quantity: 1
Selected options: MATERIAL TYPE: (RMBW) Real Medium Burl Wood
Item price: $ 216.32

I think I might like the color shown here better, but this should look more original. I might be able to keep the piece in front of the shifter if it matches well.

I suspect they have these patterns on computer, water-jet them out as they're ordered, sand or router the edges, and put some kind of thick epoxy on them. That's how I'd do it to be efficient. It's unfortunate they couldn't put the lettering on for the switches, that'd probably get expensive.

Im starting to kinda like the woodgrain now. My only question is if you have a 40th do they makeone with a cutout for the badge on the shifter console of would you have to remove it and apply adhesive?
