I love those Medieval Times cups - we've got half dozen.

Nothing gets passed anyone on this board. Your right about the cup. Good entertainment for the family.

Did you have to remove the original wood trim first before installing the new and was it a PITA?

anyone make anodized brushed aluminum...that might be sweet...

the eBay seller "dashtrim2" sells them in brushed aluminum, carbon fibre, and a few different woods. Someone I know blinged his Pathfinder with one of their kits and it looks pretty good.

Me, on the other hand... I just spent 4 hours removing the perfectly good wood trim that my Cruiser came with. I like good ol' washable, no-maintainence black plastic.

I peeled mine off a little at a time after I bought my 80, typically when I was waiting for the wife in a parking lot and bored. I honestly did'nt care much for it at the time and felt fake wood dash trim was out of place in a Cruiser.

But after being nagged almost to death by the wife about how bad the inside looked without it, I finally gave in, ordered a new fake wood dash kit off of Ebay for $116.00, installed it and now everytime she gets in she tells me how much better it looks.

Of course, she would not ride in my 80 at all after I removed the carpet until I Durabaked the entire floor and bought new rubber floor mats.

Women.......mine is a bit on the hard to please side.

Any opinions on the ebay kit? Ive been eyeing it for sometime now as the price is attractive, I was just skeptikal about the fit and finish quality. Your thoughts?

Removing the wood trim was easy.

Removing the factory glue residue was a major PITA.

I ended up taking the dash pieces inside so I could watch TV while rubbing off the old adhesive.

Does it the surface really need to be that clean to apply the new trim? I would think the sticky adhesive residue would just add more strength to the bond.

To the OP...

Try to take the pictures in soft warm ambient light without a flash (sunlight falling on the seats would work, but not directly on the dash)

The wood trim looks pretty good though! Much better than I would have thought.

You probably don't need to remove all of the old glue, but my OCD made me.

The kit comes with a primer pen you're supposed to use to make the adhesive stick better and I could tell that the factory used something similar because the adhesive only stuck to the plastic in the spots it was used. Kind of looked like someone scribbled on the plastic before sticking down the factory wood.

It might have been optional/standard on some models (VX Limited?) here, I think.

Ive seen something like this on ebay, around 50 shipped IIRC.

Does anyone have a picture of the dash/console after peeling the wood trim off? So just the basic black plastic (preferably with the tan leather interior!)
Thanks

Someone had a question about my results, so here's a couple pics. First pic is from Jan '06 when I installed, the others are from when I sold it Mar '08.

This is an old thread, but I was wondering if anyone who has a gray interior had done this, and what type of wood they selected? Pics would be really helpful as I have a gray interior and feel that the lighter wood tones might not look right.
