I have read all the injector pump leak posts on here I could find and whilst some are very similar I couldn't find someone asking my exact question...

There is diesel leaking out of the top of my 1985 BJ70 3B injector pump. I noticed it on the ground about a month ago and before I could find where it was coming from it stopped. Tonight it started again and I managed to locate where it's coming from: either from the nut at the bottom of the injector pipe (green arrows) or from where the delivery valve holder goes into the main body of the injector pump (red arrows). Leak is quite slow, probably a few drips per minute.

I've never messed with the IP before so I wanted to ask the experts on here first... Can I just tighten the nuts at the base of the injection pipes (green arrows)? Can I do the same for the delivery valve holders, where they screw into the IP body (red arrows)? Any other recommendations?

Thanks!

loosen the blocks between the two first. then loosen the upper nut, then snug the bottom one just a little, then tighten the upper and re-install/tighten the blocks. when you tighten the upper nut be sure to put a wrench on the bottom one to prevent turning the bottom one as you tighten the upper one. I think the upper one is a 17mm if I remember correctly, and the bottom one would be either a 19mm or 21mm I think.

It may come back. Its an easy fix to disconnect them and replace the gaskets, but for now no probems.
