BJ44 in progress, speeding up now

OEM front door weatherstripping is in.. ripped the CCOT seals from the door, after not being able to close the doors and replaced them with the real deal...

also added the same type of sound and rattle deadener Toyota uses on their floorpans, has to be applied with a hot heatgun so i kind of melts itself on the surface. Then used Tectyl rust protection spray and fully coated the lower part of the inside.. Closing the doors sounds very solid now... Finally closed off the doors with seam sealer and a piece of plastic sheet. So the inner door panel will be protected against moisture.

Ow and I forgot, Also installed an OEM hood silencer pad,
This originally came with the BJ44, but the previous owner trashed it. Already found this replacement in spring, but never installed it..

Looked kinda shabby, only paid 25 euro's, but with a little care it looks decent enough to be an upgrade for the cruiser...

Must say, it really helps getting rid of the engine noise.. not a big difference, but every little thing helps.

looked fine from the outside, no holes yet.. the process will only remove the rust, no metal, and the epoxy coating will add an extra mm of thickness to the inside... hope that will be sufficient...

There was a lot of progression on the sliding windows last week!
got the weatherstripping from fellow mudder Dancar (thanks again mate!!) that one was hard to find... this one fits like a glove, as good, or even better than OEM. I've posted a comprehensive photo report of the installing procedure on my blog...

thanks James!! fuel tank is already back and installed, company who did the epoxy coating lost my drain plug...
but they arranged a new one for me, will get that one this week.. then i'm off!!!

Are you out driving yet?

Windows look great, hopefully I'll get to work on one of mine this coming weekend. The only problem is that I have to do it with the frame in place.

hi Dan, yes I'm already driving the car since last Wednesday... will have to update my blog with the fuel tank placement and the upcoming task > replace the exhaust manifold gasket... It sounds like an old VW beetle right now.. will do that this Wednesday.

removing and placing the windows in the frames will work also when they are still mounted to the hardtop, might be a little more difficult, but if you use something like a plastic spatula, or other flat piece of soft but stiff material, you can pry the windows in and out without scratching the frame...

Hey Folkert, did you change the seals/strip for the sliding part of the rear windows as pointed in the pic below? If yes, where did you source the parts from?

no, not replaced, i just cleaned and brushed those so the "hairs" on that strip would stand out more and seal the window better... hope that will be sufficient.. chrome part of the strip still looked good.
