Not a lot of progress to report. I decided in May to retire and then also to sell my home. I had an estate sale and now have a contract on the house and ordered a trailer to haul the FJ to a new location. Thinking about a barndo but looking around.

I did get the 4 wheel disc brakes installed and have the new brake lines, have the new tires mounted on OEM rims and have the trim rings as well. after that I did slow down with the sale and then listing the house the FJ has been back burnered.

I thought I would look at installing the holley sniper on the 2F while waiting on closing and I watched Red Line Cruisers video on what you should do before installing (buying?) the holley sniper. The first step was a good idea and that was to check the compression on the 2F. I was hampered as the estate sale folks sold the FJ battery that was sitting near the FJ so I bought an optima yellow top last week. Today, I had all the plugs out and checked Cylinder 1 and it was 140, #2 was 130- hmmmm, and cylinder 3 peaked at 90psi...dangit. So now I am looking at my options, I want to keep the 2F but I cannot deny the appeal of an SBC swap out. Problem, I already bought the Holley and Davis Unified HEI distributor but I guess I can sell them if I decided to go SBC.

Going to look into having the motor rebuilt/overhauled. I will let you know what I decide, it is a bit of a let down but I have been knowing for a while I needed to check the compression and should have done that before I bought the holley and Davis distributor. I also polished up the valve cover...

When was it last run? If it sat for a bit, compression might come back a bit after some running as the valves clean up and reseat a bit.
I honestly do not know. I did drive it almost all the way home back in December 2023 when I bought it. Did not notice an issue then and the seller had it running when i arrived and it started right up. I did just go out and reran the compression test, #1 140, #2 135, #3 125, #4 130, #5 140, #6 142. So that is better and perhaps that is all it needs and I should. Seems I recall Redline video stating 140 would be minimum acceptable but I also understand this is their business. I may get another guage and verify similar/same readings. also, I have not set the valves and the motor was cold on a cool morning here. I will just stand back and take moment to check the valves and then if no improvement, do a wet test as suggested in a 2F compression thread.
