Hello,

Hey guys it has been a while but I need your help again. My front brakes are completely done on my 88 BJ-74. I ordered some pads and disks from Toyota. The part number for the disks is 43512-60100.

The problem I have is it only has the holes for the lugs??? It is missing the other 2 holes to mount the hub assembly (for lack of a better word) on??? Am I missing something here or do I just have teh wrong part number? I seem to rememebr I had the same issue when I did my brakes on my 60 a few years ago?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Todd

I get 43512-60040 for the correct part number...unless the 100 is a cross up number for Toyota now, as EPC shows different applications for the **100 (FZJ70, 73, 75, HZJ70, 75, KZJ, JL, PZJ, etc).

all pre 1990 land cruiser brakes use the two pin, two wire spring system identical to fj60, fj40, and mini truck. I would think you have post 1990 pads -those for 1990 and on model front ends.

I was wondering if it was a pre/post 1990 thing.

Thanks

I think you guys missed what he was saying. Some Toyota disks are held to the hub assembly with two bolts as well as the six lug nuts. The ones Todd got have no holes for the two bolts. I think I remember some application with six bolts.

I can't see how they are required, Todd. The lug nuts do all the work. They likley make installing the studs easier.

Hi Bruce

Yes, I recall those two bolts. I think they are on all pre 1990 LandCruiser axles?

I "think" ricks point is that if he has the post 90 disc number then he may have gotten the post 90 pads as well...(post 90) pads are a different part number.

Pre 1990 pads are: 04491-60010 which subs up to 04465-35170
Post 1990 pads are: 04491-60080 which subs up to 04465-60030

Not having seen each of the pads up close I've no idea if they will cross and work.

down here in the lower 48 we call em "rotors" not disks.

1976-1980 are only bolt to hub (lug studs press through the hub only)

1981-1990 are 6 studs pressed through both rotor and hub plus 2 bolts

1990- press through only

use the 60100 rotors as press through lug studs only.

Thank goodness everyone in the thread so far, even RickD, speaks Canuck.

That's good info on the rotors. I'll stand by my estimation that the post 90 rotors will work but it looks like the dealer supplied the wrong thing.

BTW Rick I have tha floor section out if you want it. Not sure its worth shipping though.

Ya...starting a new movement called the "ain't no stinken rotor on a diesel Cruiser". Rotors are on gassers, and also those funny things you see in the sky around BC looking for fields of dreams.

Thanks guys for your help again!!! So looks like the rotors will be fine using the lugs pressed through to hold them. I guess Toyoto did not see the need to continue with the rotors with the additional holes for the 2 bolts to hold the hub assembly.

The funny thing is the guy at toyota printed off the the blow up of the front rotor/hub assembly and it shows the rotor with the additional holes, and references the part number I quoted earlier?? Oh well as long as it works that is fine by me.

Thanks again!!!!
