Split case rebuild showed up so the 4l60/black box/splitcase is next. Any info on this setup would be helpful

just stripped down the split case and I have to say its easily the simplest tcase ive tore down in a long time no special tools just sockets. I brought home most of my snap ring and puller drawers from work. no snap ring pliers and only one puller needed. And could have done with a couple pry bars. definitely liking this cruiser stuff so far. and to think I put off the tcase tear down

only got a couple pics of the tear down its was done in like 20 minutes

case halfs spent a hour in the parts cleaner last night so i might have this thing assembled this weekend if i get time. its a father son weekend and I told him we'd go hunting but the hunting fj62 needs the alternator swapped. plus both my hj60s are sold and need to be loaded on the trailer for pickup. weather station is calling for extreme amounts of rain so it may turn into a shop weekend though

i installed the output shaft and made sure it was seating in the roller bearing up front with a small rubber mallet.

that ensures the support bearing surface id where it needs to be

next up is the support bearing and mounting plate. bearing is a sealed unit not too sure about that. I guess it makes splitting the black box and split case easier with the support bearing and plate in there.

Nice setup, I was very tempted to go NV4500/blackbox/split case behind my diesel. Issue in the 80 series is the gas tank. Could have used a rear tank instead but it just all seemed to add to the cost. Just going with 3:1 low range and the low 1dt gear of the NV4500 should be OK.
