Hello All,
I start removing body from my Bj42 lots of restoration on it,found frame rails are very badly rusted can see holes and thin metal, fram rail flange and web are very thin,it looks like from middle to the back frame rails a pretty bad ,do you guys recommend to cut whole section and weld another one ,is there's someone in Calgary area who sell the section ,I do have a frame from fj40 but it looks like body mounting is different then BJ42, please advice. Thanks

The frame is the same in 1979 and newer FJ40 and BJ42.

I’d find a better frame and use it for the repairing. The most rear parts (rail ends and triangle plates) you can buy aftermarket repairing parts.

Thanks for MaTTi the other frame is from 1974 fj40, as by looking it looks different for sure body mount braket is different.

IMHO if its one little area that rotted out you can fix that, when the whole things gone - you will be time and money ahead finding some other unit. On the other hand welding in a lot of new iron with fish plates and gussets could be an option if you can do all that work yourself.

Thanks, I can weld no problem, I have seen some parts on the top part of the rail which is very thin i will just cut that part out and weld new one there.
