TTT/// leaky seam post deleted

Hy Fuzzy Logic water leaking through Seams in canvas is mostly a non issue at first it may leak a little bit, once it gets wet the fabric swells making it tighter it won't .....:grinpimp:

But never take wet canvas down, first let it dry completely, other wise it will shrink and possibility of mildew setting in can destroy canvas in a few days.

Take this from somebody that has lived in a canvas houses over the past two decades ......Dusty 66

It was some sort of vinyl and something to do with needle holes:frown:

I'm in on the current order. Biscuit, how much did it cost to get your bows painted? I was going to just rattle can black to match my rollcage but it looks like I will need to at least get those "door frame" sections painted.

:hhmm: Is there anywhere else to get these tops from? I think it looks like bad craftsmanship, no offense ,but for the price and wait I would expect more. It does look good from a distance though!

So after a year of having my top I finally got around to painting the "bows". I really wanted to color match them with the tub but since my vehicle is a custom color I was having a hard time finding a rattle can that would be similar enough. My truck is really close to Freeborn Red but not exact. Quote from a local shop to paint was over $400. Color matched paint from Finish Masters was over $120 just in materials. I also don't own a good compressor or gun. I recently unscrewed the bolting points on the bows and installed some little squares of generic rubber padding to stop some squeak/rattling, btw this works great. While I was doing it I noticed that there was some very slight surface rust starting to form so I decided it was finally time to take action. I pulled the whole thing apart and sanded down the individual pieces.....forgot how many pieces this thing came in....16! I finally found a rattle can color that is close enough to my trucks color to work, it's not perfect but it will do the trick. Anyway it was a lot of painting but the bows came out really great...the primer and sanding made all the difference. The bows took about 20 mins each pass to do since I had to basically hit each one 4 sided and I made 3 passes. I didn't use a clear coat. One nice thing about the rattle can job is that it is easy to touch up. Now the hard part, waiting for the paint to cure for a week before I can put them back on. I'll post some shots when I get them installed but here is one from the painting.
