Anyone know how much lift the 53-292018 rear coils net on a mostly stock truck, maybe +200lbs in the rear? What about the spring rate? From pics earlier in the thread looks like 2-3"? I am trying to stay around 1 - 1.5" lift.

1.75" lift according to this site

I was not able to find the spring rate.

Greetings. I recently installed this kit that the OP has. I did not have to mess with the KDSS shutter valves for the rear install, but I did loosen them to raise and lower the KDSS piston for the front swaybar to get it lined up with the passenger side control arm. Ride height is spot on all around with perch #5. Alignment came out well, and the truck certainly rides nicer than oem.

Edit for a few misc notes :

- I used a come-along to line up the rear member when reinstalling. I was afraid the lift would offset the rear by too much, but have found my thrust angle to be at 0.02 degrees. Good enough for me.
- fishing an adjustable wrench on top of the new rear bilstein shock to tighten the 21MM bolt without the shaft spinning was interesting and challenging

Any pictures of the truck? When you say rides nicer - how do you mean?

I put my 6112/5160's to the test yesterday. After the Dove Opener, we went plinking north of Winterhaven, California. Going in and out of our remote, impromptu shooting range, we ran up and down dry washes and dirt roads. With three people onboard and a good 300 pounds of cargo, and 106 degree temperatures, we comfortably saw 60 mph plus on the dirt roads and 40-50 mph in the deep sand and rutted dry washes, caught air one time in one of the washes. The ride was composed and comfortable, the shocks never faded. We then jumped on the freeway and headed back to San Diego with the cruise control set to 80 mph. The 200 Series and the 6112/5160's performed great (much better than I did with the doves).

@Robert B any word on the 6100 series shock for the rear?

I understand that Bilstein is working on other products for the 200 series, but do not feel comfortable saying more than that.

Truck looks great! What tires/size are you running? Any spacers?

Thank you. My tires are General Grabber ATX tires 275/70r18 without spacers. I get a little rubbing in reverse at full lock.

Understood. @Robert B on the first post you mentioned there's a normal and heavy spring option. Do you know the rear spring rates of those?

After my first road trip in my (new to me) 2013 200, I was left desiring a more controlled ride while loaded down ( family of 5, roof box with gear, 4 bikes on bike rack). I also was bottoming out the rear suspension from time to time on those random hi-way dips. I just ordered this shock setup and I cant wait for all the items to arrive! The only thing is I went with icon rear dual rate coils (1.75'' of lift). I have always wanted to run dual rate coils on past builds but never got around to it. Hopefully it pairs up well with the Bilstein's. This being my first 200 Build, are diff drops not required for 2.5'' of lift?

I'm wondering why there aren't springs that are variable rate with the lower rate = OEM and the stiffer rate being something higher.
The stock springs are 170 and the OME 2721's are 270/350 at least according to this post: Anyone swap rear springs?

So why wouldn't something like a 170/270 spring be a great thing for those that do not want lift but don't want to bottom out when hauling cargo or towing? You would have OEM for mall cruising but something stiffer for that occasional heavier load.🤷‍♂️

UPDATE: So, I’ve got these installed about a month ago. I held back on reporting because I had to figure out some issues I had and didn't want to misreport.... These are on-road comments, I haven’t been on dirt yet

I installed the front and rear separately which accidentally afforded me the opportunity to assess improvement/issues more targeted

The front end went in one week before the rear, and it really felt tight and controlled, really liked it; especially cornering and stopping.
Of course the install did not go without a hitch, the shop was one of those who pretends they know more than they do and did not listen when I said to remove the OEM spacer and to open the KDSS valves. Of course when I came back the truck looked like one of those 90’s hydraulic sedans!!! The shop guy goes “one of the struts it’s defective” I said, “your ears are defective!” and explained, he apologized and allowed me to talk to the actual mechanic about it who then was thankful because he had a hard time doing the work and had to disconnect the sway bars... Then I asked if he took the spacers out, and of course he didn‘t! Poor guy had to do all the work again!! Anyway, that’s why I said forget the rears and went to another shop...

A week later I shopped around and ended up at a small off-road shop who installed the rears, on my way home all I heard was banging in the rear, I pulled over and noticed the top mounts weren't installed correctly (2 different size washers were flipped) and the whole rear shock was dancing in the frame. Of course at this point the shop was closed. Came back the next day and he fixed it... From then on for weeks I had been hating how the truck handled, bouncy and harsh and I knew it was the rear since before they went in I was happy. I wrote Bilstein and all they could say is perhaps over-torqued bushings but it should not feel like that. I did not think the harsh ride could be coming from such small thing, eventually I found the issue! The driver side rear spring was not fitted correctly, it somehow had popped out and was kinked!! Went back to the shop 2 days ago and quickly fixed It.

Needless to say the joy of new suspension was tainted by poor mechanics, but I am finally happy, and highly recommend this system, just make sure you do the work at a shop you trust. For the price and quality, it is hard to beat!!

I went with the 1” option and stock rear springs FYI...

Wow. Sorry about the troubles.

How is the ride with the stock rear springs? When you say the 1" option are you referring to the spring perch? Which perch did you end up at?

Pics of the truck with lift?

Love the ride, better than stock for sure (less wobbling) and yes, 1st perch. My understanding is that the rear Bilstein aren't stiffer, just 1.75" lift. I may have gone for it if they were .75"

@jefo13 I'm glad you said "less wobbly" because that was one of my complaints about my stock suspension, "its Wobbly" but its not a term people typically use! lol My fronts came in yesterday. My rear shocks are on back order. If the rear coils come in today, ill do the install today or tomorrow.

@jefo13 - THANK YOU for posting this. I just installed a set of Kings front and rear and was shaking them down before I got an alignment and it wasn't quite right and I just checked the drivers side rear spring and it was unseated at the top exactly the same. The bump stop insert and spring top was just slightly out of the cup it is supposed to fit into. I lifted the truck, whacked the spring with a dead blow and it snapped into the seat. One quick test drive later and the truck feels so much better. Thanks - this forum is so helpful

I finally got my rear shocks in and installed my kit Saturday. I couldn’t be happier with the ride quality. I previously had some stock style spacers installed in the front for leveling and removing the strut was a realllll PITA, I ended up making the executive decision to just cut the lower portion with a saw saw. Side 1 for the front took 2 hours. Side 2, took 40 min!!( new brake rotors and pads too). Ps tightening the rear upper shock mounts is a real PITA too. I did make the mistake of ordering 2 right rear shocks Instead of a left / right. I'm impatient, I had to install them. Not a big enough deal to send it back and wait for the correct one. The only difference is that the resi clamp is backwards on the left side now and the writing faces the middle of the truck.

I forgot to get a good picture of the finished product. I was so tired I only got this one. I also meant to ask, what do you guys think about these alignment numbers?
