Big Red is looking good Mike.

We should try and get out to hidden falls before I leave this summer. It would be cool to have both of our rigs out on the trail since they are basically twins.

Thanks MJ. We definitely need to. But you'll see how much I'm beginning to baby it on the trail.

No shame in doing that. I've done my fair share of "gnarly" trails and received body damage. I just like going on the level 3s and 4s and basically anything that doesn't have extreme off-camber obstacles.

Where you going Mcguire? School?

Ya I'm going to be transferring to Colorado State this fall. Pretty pumped about taking my cruiser up there!

Sweet. Good luck with school.

Thank you, I will come down for round-up next year. Hopefully my dad's 60 will be ready by then. How's your 55 coming along?

Slow. I'm getting things lined up for a major home remodel and don't have time to work on the pig.

Priorities. At least you know that it won't rust away while its sleeping in your garage... looking foreword to seeing it in action one day.

Looks like my driver side front window motor decided to crap out on me. Will be teaching myself more about electrical wiring :bang:.

Shouldn't be to bad. I've replaced the motors in an 80 before. Hardest part was taking the door panels off. Good look and hope all goes well...:)

I can hear the motor want to kick on or is it the relay, but there's no movement. Is the motor blown or is it a bad ground somewhere?

Hey Mike, have you checked these two threads to see if there are any pointers on what to check?

https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/62-power-window-help.141715/#post-1929037

I'll check to see if I've got a soft copy of the 62 Body Electrical, there might be a test in there for the relays. I can't remember if there is a Circuit Breaker for the Power Window circuit, but if there is, I'd start by resetting it and see if that solves the problem...

Looks like there is a Circuit Breaker for the Power Windows (image from the 1984-90 Chassis-Body FSM):

Thanks for helping out. The previous owner has dine some serious rewiring, so not sure how accurate the schematics are. Thanks again.

No worries. Glad you got it all sorted out!

FWIW, I checked the FSM and there is a procedure to test the Power Window Switch(es) and Relay, so if you experience additional problems, might run those (and check the fuse for that circuit in the Main Circuit Box) to make sure they are functioning correctly.

I didn't read completely through the mod in one of the threads I posted earlier, but from what I understand, Power Window problems are common on the 62/70 series...the mod consists of adding in relays to add 'protection' to the motors.

I might need new relays. i knew about the reset button from last year when we went to the beach. It's not fixing my central lock issue. But I can live without that for a while, what i don't want is the interior of the car to smell like rain.

There are three components to the drivers window in an FJ62:

The switch
The motor
The relay (green box in the door)

Test continuity of the switch on the bench, bench test the motor, if both these components work then it's the relay. A new assembly doesn't exist, so you have to replace the two black relays inside, easy if you have a soldering gun and aren't afraid to use it.

If your window didn't work but does now with no fix it will stop working again.

I just converted to manual windows and have a few of those black relays (new) in a box I'll send you if you want them.

The 2 Relays on the Door Lock system for the 62 are both used for the solenoid in the rear (tailgate) door, so if either of those 2 relays is bad, it should only affect the operation of the tailgate power lock.
Those relays are located in the DS cargo panel (see page BE-12 in the 1984-90 Chassis-Body FSM).

There is also a CB on the Power Lock circuit. You could try resetting it and see where that gets you.

Also attached are the procedures for testing the switch, relay(s) and solenoids for the Power Door Locks
