That crossmember he integrated into the bumper is waaaay stronger then the 62 deal
I know, I'm not worried about it. I'm just on a time crunch this week is all. In a perfect world I'd have it ready this friday so I can drive it up to Dallas from Austin, but it's highly unlikely right now.

Thanks to J, Christmas came early.

Had to muscle it to the back yard.

I got home late right, but in my excitement I managed to get most of the bolts off the old bumper. Sprayed the rest with penetrating oil for tomorrow.

I have to say the bumper is made for a tank. I can't wait until it's on there with the new tires. Looks like I'll have to remove the rear most crossmember for this to go on there, the only thing I would need is to relocate the air bag lines.

Mike, your a strong fella... I thought I was doing good to get that bumper mounted by myself.. But, WOW!! if you man handled that entire box to the backyard... HOLY $H!T..

Once upon a time J. I'm a has been now :(.

Ok gym time.

Yeah I hear ya.. back in the day when I played ball, even into my mid 30s I could have pulled that box where ever with one arm and gone back for a second or third... I miss those days occassionally.....

Now going for a walk with the wife and dog seems like a lot of work. Maybe I'm just lazy these days.

Yup, I know what you mean. I peaked at 26. Was with an elite unit, then one night during a take down inside a house a flash of light changed it all.
For clarification, I didn't lift the box and carry it. I dragged, pivoted and cussed until I got it to the backyard. It also helped a lot that it was boxed in cardboard.

I can't wait to get this thing on there so I can find my next obsession/complaint :smokin:.

I got home with some time to kill. Took off the rear bumper. Had to use a breaker bar on some of the bolts.

Touched up the paint. Now I need a grinder and a strong drill and some time. Since I'll be gone all throughout the weekend, this will probably get done next week. Then it's on to the tires which need to be de greased from the inside.

Mike, when you drill the holes for the 1/4 support arms... Use a small bit and then step your way up gradually until you reach the 1/2" hole size.. 2-3 bit changes per hole.. This will go faster and your drill and bits will thank you.

Thanks for the tip J. I have to also figure out an out of the way spot for the air lines. It's too dark to look at it now.

Looks good. I wonder if your old Kaymar bumper would fit my pig?
I was thinking that as i took it off. btw I have your box.

LOL! Too funny. We'll have to do lunch next week.

Let's plan on it. I might be traveling so we'll adjust as necessary

You, Tucker and a few others just need to fly me down, supply beer, a shop, materials and some coin and we will have an Armor Buildapaloosa!

HA! Man I wish I had a PIGGIE to model armor with.

J

Let us know when is good for you. Tickets are cheap if you fly into Dallas with all this Ebola scare.

I'm no where near where Patrick is as far as the install. I've been out of town all week and will be home late for a while. Anyway I decided something is better than nothing.

I decided to reroute the air lines.

Then as the world kept turning I started cutting.

Then it got dark

End result, I need more grinder wheels. Will take this back up tomorrow. I have to decide what I'm doing with the exhaust, it's gonna be in the way.

OH THE JOY OF HAVING A PLASMA CUTTER!!

Keep after it Mike..

J
I was saying that to myself the entire time. Was so much faster when we were replacing the rear axle and cutting off the excess metal. Gym time. Be back at it tomorrow.

What are you cutting? Rivets or rear frame member? An air chisel works wonders on rivets.
I gave up on the rivets, weird angle can't turn my hand properly, cutting the frame.

Sawzall for the frame. Poor man's plasma cutter.
my sawzall is battery powered. I'll use it at the hard to get parts. You know anyone who wants a kaymar bumper and some goodyear mt tires?
