Our deal stands J. I even turned down buying a set of 3.7s because I don't need more than one set. I just have to figure out if I'm gonna outsource the installation or learn to do it myself.

Good luck on your move in. There's no rush on my end, I'm spending me free time looking for a job that won't take me overseas or have me carry a gun, so that's been preoccupying me.

Honestly.. the 3rd swap is a day job with the FSM... Get Dave or Jas to help ya for a beer and burger.. Well for Dave a nicer beer than a BudLight... HA! Once I get the house things out of the shop I'll get my hands on the 3rds and on their way to you.

I'll see if I can double 37 a swing out on a solid spindle... R&D BABY!

LOL, it's more access to tools and a lift than anything else. I wouldn't trust doubling 37's on a spindle, but then again I'm the noob here. Like I said J, no rush on my end.

PUSS! HA! I may try it for mine.. I know the 1.5" IPOR solid spindles will handle dual 35s.. So, a 1.75" or 2" solid spindle should be OVERKILL!.. Like I said R&D...I'll build one and beat the hell out of it first... I'll try anything once and sometimes twice depending on the adrenaline RUSH!!

Never had to chase a set of dual 37s down the trail...:hmm: Maybe secure a cable or chain on them beforehand.. HEE HEE!

No worries on time, have several to build looks like.

I'm not worried if they break off, I'm worried about the law suit that ensues when it hits something. I saw a drop down swing out break on a humvee once. I'm talking steel rims with 37s, luckily the humvee behind it avoided hitting it.

I wouldn't want anything like that to happen in Texas (especially with their I drive a big truck attitudes). That's just asking for trouble. R&D away and post pics.

PS the spindle might not be the weakest points, it's probably the welds holding it in place (just a theory)
 
I watched my single 37 bouncing down a logging road with the swing arm attached to it. Sheared the spindle. Luckily no one hurt.
I upgraded the spindle to a super duper Summit Machine unit. No problem since but I don't know if I'd trust 2-37's!

Hey Phoenician..... how are the air assist bags coming along?
 
I've never seen a solid spindle (IPOR style) shear.. just the bearing ones... My buddy Hohn has been running a solid spindle with dual 35s for over three years and wheels the HELL out of his HEEP..

I'm not worried about the weld.. its the base metal that worries me...

If a weld breaks before the base metal.... that guy needs a new career, or never needs to attempt a weld before A LOT MORE TRAINING!!!

The air bags are in and doing good, thanks for the inspiration. I don't have welding skills like you guys so I had some spacers made that prevent the bags from stretching all the way.
I had trouble finding the right presure at first, so when it was loaded down, it caused the axle to wrap on hard acceleration. My rtt shows up this friday, so we'll see if the air bags will do what I had hoped they would. I'll keep you guys posted.
 
Tell me again why on Earth do you want to haul around two 37's when a single spare and a nice patch kit will take care of 99% of the problems?

The reason why is because with these 37" military tires, this is how they fail. A plug kit will work for small sidewall and tread punctures, but when going down the highway, this is what happens. You'd be hard pressed to find a patch kit to fix this :lol:

I keep telling myself that, but these are SO cheap! I recently bought a set of 4 with >90% tread, with H1 wheels and rubber runflats, assembled, for $400! You can't beat that. Besides, having runflats is a nice comfort factor when driving down the highway with tall tires.

No, the runflat is a ~3" square solid rubber ring that's vulcanized to the tire insert, which goes inbetween the beads of the tire (it's a double beadlock) so technically the tire doesn't have to be there at all for the runflat to keep the rim off the ground.
