What's the meetup plan for the 10th? Is everyone meeting somewhere and running a caravan down there?

My plan is to leave Austin around 9:00 have lunch in town close to Malaquite and then head to Mile 60 so we can set up with plenty of time. Whoever wants to convoy just let me know.

I can convoy with y’all up to Corpus Christi, have to make a stop there and then head out to pins by 6 PM and meet you guys later at the 60 mile mark

Bad news. I might be out. Had the rig tested today and it appears the head gaskets have given up. This goes back to January when Charles Maund Toyota failed to put coolant in my rig and let me drive off. It’s driveable right now, but a catastrophic failure is very near most likely. If my conversations with Maund tomorrow go well, I hope that they pay to have LandCruiser Specialists put in new head gaskets. It looks unlikely that that could happen soon enough to make this trip. I’m really sad about this and incredibly PISSED at Charles Maund Toyota for cratering my otherwise trouble free LX.

Sorry to hear about your troubles Gary. Hopefully they will step up and get the issue resolved

we shall see. They are already playing their games like they did earlier this year. Might have to turn this all over to the family attorneys. I definitely don’t recommend anyone do any business with Maund Toyota.

How realistic is it to sleep in a roof top tent? how windy is too windy?

My son @92RedToy has taken his a couple of times... I may take mine this trip. First time we went to PINS, Mike @The Phoenician took his and seemed to do well. He might chime in for his input.

It's very realistic and I'd say preferable to sleeping on the sandy ground. The RTT should do fine if it's from a reputable company.

Thanks... I have one which I've been using but I've also been out to Port A when it's been crazy windy during the day. Was wondering if it calms down at night.

The wind usually stays the same/constant except when there’s storms..

It might be a little windy on Saturday and Sunday.

Is it me or is there a hurricane every other week now?

Heard this morning that it will make landfall more eastward closer to Texas. It will make PINS a rough go.

Just called PINS, guy I talked to says that they are waiting for the National Weather Service to announce that there will be coastal flooding, then they will close the park, This typically happens once the storm/hurricane enters the gulf. He said from his experience, this weekend will likely be a washout. They will update their website & Facebook account as soon as they know.
