used warn 8274 is my opinion, but this topic has been covered once or twice, search out some of those threads, also, what are you doing with it, what's your budget etc?
t-max sound ok, there were a half dozen threads on them in the last couple of months

Second this. A used Warn will be as good as or better than an off-shore knock off. As a bonus, parts are completely available, and customer service is first class.

costco has an 8000 pnd mile marker for 350.00
not to bad for a whinch,

The 8274 is one big ass winch though isn't it? Yet to see one mounted on an 80. They look huge on 40s.

AN 8274 is roughly the same weight as an M12000. It's upright, and fits on an FJ40 like it was made for that application. Like Poser said, this is the best winch on a 40. The 40 has limited space between the frame rails up front, so by the time you add a Saginaw box, there is just enough room left for an 8274. If you look at most other winches mounted on FJ40s, they mount above the frame rails.

I have seen several 8274s mounted on 80s, usually custom fit on a front bumper. An M12000 is a better choice on an 80 just because the common bull bars are made to fit.

If you can fab stuff yourself, you can run any winch you want.

You can sort of see the 8274 on my FJ40 in this picture.
