I curse that lame, way-too-short 1960s-era dipstick design on my FJ62 - I may add your silicone sleeve trick.

Maybe there's a low-rider 'bling' LED thing I can put around the dipstick tube - it's no dumber than light-up wiper nozzles on your hood, right?

It occurs to me, you could put some, um, 1/2"? tubing over the top of the 3/8" and leave it long enough to go to the bottom of the finger ring on the dipstick. . . should be big enough for the stopper on the dipstick to go down and it would guide the dipstick down the pipe. . . maybe.

Paint the dipstick glow in the dark paint or neon color.

My cousin painted his red but white or yellow may be better--we had a can of red on the shelf but not the others.

I just used the mag light clips..

These work as front license plate holders too as they fit perfectly on a fairlead roller. You can pull your plate off when you hit the trail and pop it back on when you get back on the road.

The cleanliness of your engine makes me think you are battling glare not darkness.....:D....Nice fix!
Yes, yes, yes. Just too damn clean.

Sorry, I saw that after the fact. My apologies.
No worries. Gonna be cool when it goes back in. The only problem I can see it now it's gonna run better than mine.

The truck has blown oil smoke since he got it along the lines of a Spruance Class destroyer laying down a smoke screen, then somewhere along the line cylinder 3 kinda died--60 compression--all this after a valve job and head gasket repair. On teardown several of the manifold bolts/studs were stripped, both the end bolts poorly helicoiled. All that was fixed, the block decked, .020 overbore, valve job, new everything, tri-y headers, new DUI (had one on that was tired), RV cam, air pump eliminator, silicone vacuum lines, the Trollhole carb is about the only thing that stayed.

The non-op A/C is gone delivering lots of new real estate. To replace the protection lost when the condenser went he attached some 1/4" screen on the back of the grill.

Here is a good one if it hasn't already been posted. Get yourself some offBrand rhino liner and a square of sand paper to key the old grille plastic. Empty three rattle cans into your grille and surround to cover the tired chrome paint and damage. It makes the front end more durable and looks mean while covering the old damaged yellowed plastic.

You know that bucket of snakes you call your bungee cord storeage?
Got that sorted for 8 bucks.

Bungee Storage 1.0
BTW note the cord third from the left. I don't know if they left the coil on the hooks spaced for this reason, but it sure works if your cord is longer than you need it.

Woulda been cheaper had I any 4" pipe laying around.

Changed out the old battery terminals for the military style. Took about 1.5 hours (included time to play fetch with Athena) and slightly less than $10. 1st photo old terminals - 2nd photo new terminals
