Hi all,

Just thinking of changing things up by going with black carpet. However, does anyone know which supplier has a good reputation with quality and fitment?

Quick search has shown that people have gone with stockinteriors.

Any recommendation on whether I should go with softer (essex/ultra plush) or thicker backing (poly backing vs. Mass backing) for less heat/noise? I use the LC as a daily with occasional camping trips.

Stock Interiors worked well for me. No complaints. I just went with the basic stuff.

Stockinteriors.com here too. I ordered the upgrades... mass backing and ultra plush pile. It’s well worth the upgrade. It’s a huge step up in quality.

I went with medium gray, which is much lighter than the original color. Also shown below is what the mass backing looks like. It is difficult to cut through and a hot knife will help. Shown on the bottom is the thickness compared to the OEM carpet.

Not trying to hijack your thread Pandanoid.
But since the discussion is about carpet, I would like to ask if anyone has replaced their carpet that is similar to mine (97 oak/tan interior). Due to my business, I travel and having samples sent to me isn't really feasible. The carpet is in horrible shape and I'd like to order it from stockinteriors.com and replace it next time I'm home. So what color do I need to order to get a close match? I would like the carpet on the doors to not look out of place.

They have caramel, beige and cream. I'm guessing caramel.
Thanks

The consensus is that “Sandstone” is the closest match for the tan interior 80’s with this kit. It was discussed in this thread:

I will say that even though my color is much lighter than the carpet in the doors, you don’t notice the difference at all. I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s an optical illusion because of the different angles, or because it sits so low... j wouldn’t worry about it either way though.

Thanks for the reply and the link. I searched and read the thread. I couldn't find the "Sandstone" option. I was choosing the "Ultra Plush Cut Pile" After selecting "Plush Cut Pile" it magically appeared.

I recommend the ultra plush pile if you can stomach the price. It is much better. I’ve seen both options and it’s not even close. Ultra plush is a huge upgrade.

However... it appears that the sandstone (8655) is not available in ultra plush, so you may try selecting the plush pile. It appears to be available there.

Is the carpet cut and molded to fit perfectly? Or is it something that will end up being a project?

You’ll need to trim and cut. It’s a small project. All your lower interior trim needs to come out. You’ll need to cut holes for the seat mount bolts, llatches, center console, rear heater, etc...

Basically the carpet is just molded to the floor pan. The rest is up to you. In my opinion, this can be done with zero experience if you just take it slow and methodical.

Thanks for the wonderful response everyone. I will opt for the mass backing and ultra plush from stockinteriors.
It is also good to know that some DIY work is involved ahead of time.

Got the mass backing. Delivery took about a week.
Mass Backing worth the extra $$$$? You go with plush or upgrade to ultra plush?

Following.

2024 update? How are those Stock Interiors (ACC) carpets holding up?

Anyone buy from SI or ACC recently? What's your take on fit and quality?

I just went ahead and got it with mass backing. Haven't installed yet. Needs to air out b/c it REEKS. I think it's the mass backing. Looks good, though!
